My 11-year old son has started playing football this year and has had a really difficult time gaining weight over the past 2 years. (Common, I know)

But now that he's hell bent on playing this particular sport, he wants me to feed him constantly, which is foreign to us. He's usually very picky and only eats big in the morning. Will he actually gain with the additional calories or will the concerta (45mg) still keep his metabolism at a rate that will hold him back from his desired results. I just don't want him to become a eating machine in vain.

Just wanted to know if anyone has had success with this?

All kids are different. You will have to try all the weight gain tricks you can think of. My daughter eats a little more when on concerta but still lost weight (she gets daily ice cream). We have added guanfacine (Tenex) to her med mix in hopes of stopping the weight loss. Good luck. Please post any results you have.

If you eat more you will gain more. I don't think the Concerta will just make him burn it all up. That would not make sense.

If he is willing to try and eat more go for it. However, I would still try to stay light on the simple sugars and white flour products.
