Hi Vik! I'm glad to be here today. I've been so overwhelmed with work lately that I haven't had a chance to get on the computer, let alone visit with my friends here in last post. ;)

I got a negative comment in my report claiming a false claim that I am too quiet. I was so pi**** with her. I did communicate with them, but just that the person who did not see that wrote that about me. all i did for them was for naught. I am so mad today. I just am serious at work and i only talk about work and i don like to talk about personal issues at work and with "strangers". That is how i feel. I am not even very quiet. I even tried to be pro-active offering my sincere helps and i get that feedback in my report i was so angry. And only that statement and how about the other good things i have done, she did not comment at all. I am so mad. :( :< Later on someone said to me the same thing, which is another false claim. She did not even know me long enough. I only worked 4 days with her and she shouted to me that i am too quiet. They all don understand.. I only don like to talk to strangers but after a while i am okay with them. I don like to chat too much during work and i wanna learn as much as i could. Is that wrong? I tried to do things i thought someone with a good work attitude should do and all the efforts i get this. I am so mad and hurt.

Everyone are making false claims about me. Although this is the general observation they make but they didn't come close enough to me to understand who i am. The person who wrote my report from the first day of my work to my last day was not even beside me a single day. she was always not around and how does she knows i am too quiet? It is so unfair to me. I swear i talk alot to my partners and i am not very quiet. Does she want all her staffs to chat during work and neglect their responsiblities then? That stupid false claim hurt me! :( ARgh.

When i offer my helps to them on daily basis, they didn't even record it in my report. What do i mostly do there, is pick phone calls, do admin works like dispatching records, labelling items. I am not there to do clerk stuffs, I am not there to do these. I don really learn new things that are related coz they are not willing to teach me. Even i help them with the manual tasks unrelated to the purpose of me being there, that stupid woman didn't even give positive feedback. Is she really that difficult to please?

You may be happy — and even relieved — to know that you are one of millions of people who share the "red-in-the-face" blues. Lots of people feel their cheeks, ears, nose, and even neck redden with heat when they feel excited or anxious. This reaction is our body's natural response to stimulation: your heart beats faster, you sweat, and you may even feel light-headed. It can certainly be unnerving to have your face go red during inopportune times. Some people feel their faces flare when they are about to give a speech, meet new people, or ask someone out. Still others feel the telltale burn while arguing or sharing an idea or opinion they feel passionate about.

Having a difference of opinion with someone can push you to persuade him to see things your way or sell him on your perspective. But if you're still stuck on the same point as you were at the beginning of the conversation, then you haven't convinced him of much.

It's hard to get people to radically change their point of view and adopt yours, especially in a group. So the best approach is to alert others of your view on things and open them up to the idea. Then, on a personal level, it will be easier to convince them and bring them to your side of the ballpark.

5. Fix Problems
Conflict is not a bad thing in itself, as long as it doesn't turn into mayhem. The point of an argument is to settle on an improvement of the current situation. A win-win scenario is preferable, but don't be hardheaded and refuse to comply even if you're sure that you are entirely right.

6. Always Keep Your Cool
Emotions often get intertwined with logical arguments during heated discussions, which seem to blur our sense of clarity. If you feel your blood pressure rising when you disagree on a topic, take a second to breathe and put your emotions aside, as they may clutter your logical train of thought.

If you see that the other person is clearly pushing your buttons in order to make you lose it, then simply walk away and resume the conversation at a later time, but not without telling him what you think. (No need to start with the "mama" jokes.)

7. Don't Be Afraid To Change
A stubborn man will remain so all his life. But nothing says that you can't bend or shift your views a little to smooth things out.

If you're going head to head with your project manager about a specific task, make the most of his comments and listento what he has to say. Remember that what's best for the company might not necessarily be best for you.

8. There's No "I" In Team
Learn to be a team player if you aren't already, and you will get a lot more done. Compliment others on their good work, and they will likely do the same to you.

This is a good technique for maintaining a positive work environment and maintaining clear communication channels.

9. Be On The Ball
People will always have different opinions about matters, but this doesn't mean that nothing positive can come of them. You have to learn to adapt to people and play with the dynamics of the conversation. Learn to react quickly.

10. Have A Plan
Like with anything in life, you have to be prepared. I don't care how good you are at on-the-spot schmoozing, you must have some general thoughts to guide your thinking process during conversations.

Approach everyone in a different manner, whether it be someone you're meeting for the first time, an old friend, or your boss. There's no need to actually write your plan down, but you must give it some serious consideration beforehand.

The point here is that emotions can get you into trouble and they should be controlled at all times. Being human, we all have emotions. No matter how hard we try, we will always react to events and people with some feeling in our gut.

Some emotions run deeper than others. The deeper the emotion, the more dangerous it is because it is more likely to affect our behavior, making us act irrationally.

gauge your emotions

One way to control your emotions is to know what or who you are dealing with. That is, if you are feeling angry with someone (or something), it is important that you know exactly why you're irate.

Furthermore, you must know to what degree you are feeling your emotion. If someone hurt my kid, I'd be a heck of a lot more emotional and volatile than if someone spilled a drink on my Brioni suit.

What I'm saying, is that you have to gauge what you are feeling to know how much damage you can inflict if you lose your cool. Afterwards, control yourself before you fly off the handle

You are now aware that no matter what you do or say, you will always have emotions. Some people are more emotional than others, but emotions creep up on all of us at one point or another.

Thus, it is important that you learn how to deal with your emotions. I don't mean this in the same way some shrink would. I'm not going to tell you to let it all out and start babbling about what bothers you until you start crying like a little girl.

In my book, dealing means sucking it up and saving it for a later date. If somebody crosses you and you want to tear his head off, be patient and wait instead. Analyze what happened and take the time to figure out the best payback. You can then plan things out and go about it logically. This will help you avoid making stupid mistakes and usually makes for a much harder hit to your opponent.

A last point I want to make is that you should never wear your emotions on your sleeve. People should not be able to know how you are feeling simply by looking at you.

Having a poker face will give you an edge in business. If people know how you feel, they can better predict your actions. If they can predict your actions, they can better plan to counter your efforts and defeat you.

So remember; when someone asks "How ya doin'?", tell them that you're "doin' good."

The capacity to handle criticism and grow from it is a very important aspect of becoming successful. So make use of the following tips on different types of criticism and how to handle them.

Criticism comes in two flavors: constructive and destructive. Both should be handled carefully, albeit in a different manner.

Most people attach a negative connotation to the word criticism because it brings to mind something destructive. We all remember being taunted or criticized as children for no apparent reason, and those memories often linger into adulthood.

Destructive criticism aims to hurt an individual's self-esteem, by causing psychological damage to people and rendering them less effective in what they do and who they are, as a result.

A good example of destructive criticism would be if your boss told you something like, "How could you make such a stupid mistake, what were you thinking? I don't know why I hired you in the first place." I'm sooo glad I no longer have a boss like this -he would belittle his crew in front of everyone at meetings etc, it SUCKED!

Perhaps the boss thinks this will motivate his employee to work harder (and smarter), but all it will do is make that person resent the boss and want to quit. This is because the criticism was general, negative and didn't point to how the employee could have improved his performance. It merely condemned him.

Destructive criticism is not very useful. It may inform you that you made a mistake, but if no remedy is suggested and no show of confidence that the mistake can be rectified is made, then the net effect on performance will be negative.

How to handle it:
The way to deal with this kind of unhelpful feedback is to simply ignore it and turn it into something positive

Now that we've discussed the bad side of criticism, let's see how it can improve performance in any and every aspect of your life.

Let's take our previous example of negative criticism. Instead of saying, "How could you make such a stupid mistake, what were you thinking? I don't know why I hired you in the first place," a model boss would be more positive and say something like, "Thanks for the report, I can see you put a lot of effort into it. However, I was hoping you could touch it up a little by summarizing it more and adding some graphs. The content is solid, but if you could make those small changes, I would really appreciate it." This is what I have NOW best boss ever!!!

Why is this criticism good, and why should you handle it with a positive attitude?

To start, the real issue was mentioned; you know exactly what to do to make the report better. You are also happy that your work was commended and does have some inherent quality.

How to handle it:
Realize that the feedback is positive. Make sure that you understand the feedback and ask questions to ensure that you know exactly what needs to be done to improve your work. And ultimately, thank the person for their constructive feedback. not I'm not there yet anyway

Suppose you got the initial feedback mentioned -- the bad feedback -- how can you turn it into something positive?

First you need to make sure you understand the criticism. Do not rationalize your performance; maybe you could have done a better job. Which brings us to the next step: Ask the critic exactly what it is they did not like and why. Then ask how they would improve things. If they can't tell you, then ignore the criticism and assume you have done a good job. Some people are just negative, and if so, you'll have to call their bluff.

Assuming that the feedback is valid, you should then bring up any points you feel are valid to arrive at a consensus of what you will need to do next. Once that is done, communicate your plans to the other person and get cracking on improving things. blah blah blah

The last step is actually making the necessary improvements. Don't forget to check back with the critic to make sure everything is satisfactory.

If you make the attempt to view all criticism in a positive way and respond to it as prescribed above, you'll be well on your way to yielding improved results, with the end result being the achievement of your goals.
