View Full Version : Question for those who are happy in their job sammyanne1 08-24-06, 10:07 PM what is it you do? What is it you love about it? What could you do without? design8r 08-24-06, 11:20 PM For me, it's important that I work as a consultant, in a project atmosphere. In other words, many clients with various problems that need solving. I'm never working on the same problem for more than, say, a month at a time. I also am fortunate to get to deal with a lot of logic in my work. It's not so much programming code as it is syllogisms and flowcharts. Seeking Life 08-25-06, 12:06 AM I'm 3/4 happy. I'm a graphic designer. I work on layouts, ads, and I guess anything that is visually communicative. What sucks is I tend to work long shifts every other day. I enjoy the work and I like what do. But I feel like I'm turning into a workaholic which isn't good for anyone. These last few days have been stressful because we've been getting rush jobs. I'm learning my biggest issue right now is how to manage stress more efficiently. So I guess I COULD DO WITHOUT the bad stress you know vs the good stress. secularist 09-26-06, 08:06 PM I work in high-end retail sales as a store manager. it's certainly been a challenge for me with my Inattentive type, but since I've started meds it's getting much better. I can follow-thru on things that I never would have finished before. I'm excited and motivated to see what the future brings for me within my company. casper 09-26-06, 08:29 PM I do grocery/cooking. I love it! Everyday is different for me. I have some downtime to do paperwork and such. I like to float around the store and do a different job each day. This keeps me on my toes and somewhat focused. I do tend to get distracted at bad times and feel the need to go check on something....but relally I enjoy the variety. VisualImagery 09-26-06, 09:36 PM I am unhappy, because I do not have my favorite job right now-but I am a teacher and love teaching! Seeing kids "get it" or enjoy learning makes my day. I hate the paperwork, but am learning to manage it! RADD- Missfit 09-26-06, 09:49 PM Advertising - it's great sometimes - other times it bites. I get bored if i dont have a zillion things going on at once, but at the same time - focusing on one porject is hard when i have so much n the go. - i keep lists and check the things off as i complete livinginchaos 09-27-06, 02:06 AM I am a behavior therapist for kids with autism. I really enjoy it. I get to teach kids how to learn and talk. Everyday I get to see the rewards of my (and the team's) hard work. It works great with my ADHD(I) because we're constantly moving around and working on many different things at once. It's always challenging and there is always something to learn, therefore I'm rarely bored. The one thing I could live without: inconsistent parents Parents come to us to help their kids, but then they won't put in the effort that's required. The inconsistency results in the kid not learning as fast as he/she could. sammyanne1 09-27-06, 02:11 AM this has been fascinating and very helpful. bunny0271 09-27-06, 07:56 PM I'm a self-employed medical transcriptionist. I love it! I make my own hours and learn something new every single day, so I'm never bored. Boredom was always a problem in the past. Not to mention I work by myself, so there are no conflicts with anyone. |
