Hi I am new to the frum and just found it by chance whilst surfing for adhd info.
My youngest son, Max (age 7) is my main concern, he has all the symptoms of adhd as far as I am concerned, but we seem to be getting nowhere with our pyschologist, and just wondered if all other parents seem to go through what we are going through.
I feel like she just does not listen to a word i say with regards to his mood swings, his temper and his concentration (or lack of). I have also informed her that my brother was diagnosed as hyperactive and epileptic over 20 years ago but this seems to have no bearing on her, even when i tell her that Max is just like my brother was at the same age. Max never learns by his mistakes and always repeats the same naughty behaviuor and says he forgot how much trouble he was in last time etc. He is a complete nitemare at bedtimes and then wont get up in the morning for school! He is trying so hard to behave and work at school (bless him) but yet the minute i pick him up its like he can eventually let off steam and just leaps everywhere and is very arguementative, often reducing me to tears!
I ask him why he cannot be good like he is trying to at school and he says his brain hurts with trying so hard all day
I would love to hear from other parents as to if these traits are normal adhd behaviuors and what i can do next in tryin to help my wee boy, who incendentally can be a very loving and charming child too!! He has a soft spot for soft toy doggies which he goes to bed with and also is great with little kids like babies and toddlers.
Thanx for reading
Michelle

Nice to meet you, Millie, and welcome to the group.

In your boat... I think I'd be looking for a new psychologist ( or pediatrician, or counsellor...)
