Well, I've worked with high power radio transmitrters in the past. LOL, nodays I stand 3 feet away from a microwave oven that is operating, just in casse the seals are leaky.

Even if the seals are leaking, you ought to be okay at that distance as long as the door is closed and intact.

My point is, don't stand close to a microwave oven when it is operating. 3 feet or so is a good safe distance. If the door or seals are damaged, do not operate the oven. Get it fixed or replaced.

What you would feel from a high powerr rf exposure is heating, You will feel intense, searing, pain. Low level exposure is painless, and will damage soft tissues like the brain, eyes, kidney, slowly, as exposure accumulates over time.

The skin tingling is proably just anxiety. A microwave oven is a big radio transmitter and if it bites you it will hurt a lot instantly. What you have to worry about is low level exposure. Just stay 3 feet or so away froim the oven when it is operating and you are very safe.

Warning!!! Do not put a cat in the microwave. I thought about that one when I was a kid.

Instead, put 2 marshmallow peeps into the microwave facing each other and play "Mortal Peep Fight"!

That's an unfortunate phobia. I think it would probably help to learn more about microwaves, how they work, and how they won't hurt you. Look for some people with a healthy respect for the scientific method and find what they have to say. Microwaves are designed to not microwave anything outside it. My husband has a degree in mechanical engineering and he says it doesn't matter if you stand right in front of it, you'll get no radiation. That helped me.
