I have been struggling with my job because of my ADD and I think that I am about to be fired. I was reading one of the stickys and the article suggested that some people with ADD work best from home. I cannot go without a job and I would like to work from home. I think that if I work from home, I dont have to deal with a boss telling me that I am doing something wrong or taking too long. I can prioritize or organize in my own way. Anyway I was wondering if anyone works from home and what kind of jobs can you get? I would appreciate any advice.

I struggle in the workplace, too, and have for years. I can't stand someone wanting me to be in my chair from 9 to 5. Ew. It makes me shudder to think about.

I've worked from home for a long time as a writer/editor. I think editing is, in a way, easier. Writing (journalism) requires you to pick up the phone, schedule interviews, get to interviews, do the interviews, remember things, and then write. I like all of those things; I just find them *so* hard to do.

Anyway, do you have any proofreading or copyediting experience? I would also think some computer work could be done from home...like HTML coding (does anyone still do that?) or creating Web pages in a content management system.

Could you do your current job from home? Would your boss be open to that? Or maybe there's another position within your company that would allow for telecommuting?

I have freelanced for many years, but am lucky to have a husband who a) likes the workplace; b) can keep a job; and c) doesn't mind that I don't bring in as much money as if I were working FT in an office.

Good luck!

I am an assistant and there is no way they would let me work from home. Office positions dont open up very often in my company and I dont know of any that would allow me to work from home. I am a little worried about money, I am in the process of buying a home and I cant go months without any income. I guess this is why I am so worried about losing my job.

I have worked from home as a medical transcriptionist for the last 7 years. I enjoy the flexibility of being able to set my own hours. I have a certain number of lines (which is how we're paid) that I have to accomplish every day. I have had ups and downs with getting my lines counts in, but in the past 6 months I have been better focused and doing very well. I went to a local community college for a year to get my certificate. There are several on-line courses for medical transcriptionists offered now.
