View Full Version : anyone tried metadate for ADHD? friendly762001 11-28-03, 12:39 PM my 5 year old is starting metadate would like to know if anyone had side effects or what anyone with adhd thinks of this pill? Wheel1975 11-28-03, 04:32 PM It is a relatively simple stimulant. Talk to your pharmacists, they know an amazing amount. Read the insert it will give you some ideas. but not everyone has side effects. good luck. tell us how it goes. Kaz 02-28-04, 03:47 AM My 11 year old son will be starting his first dosage of Metadate CD 20mg in the morning. From what I have read on the net, it seems positive. The vendor web site, seemed in depth, although it did come from the vendor. http://www.metadate-cd.com/ On the plus side, it did cause me to look at the CHADD site which also noted comments to Metadate. I would be interested in your results also. * Kaz * Riss 10-07-04, 12:17 AM I'm curious to know how your son is doing on Metadate. Or if he is still on it. My 6 yr old son has been on Metadate ER (20mg) for almost 2 wks (he was on regular ritalin (i.e., not extended release) previously). We switched him to Metadate because his previous meds suppressed his appetite too much and we noticed that it didn't seem to work consistently (e.g., sometimes it seemed like it didn't work at all and sometimes it seemed like the dosage was too high). In any case, I don't think that Metadate works for him; since he's been on the medication, he seems more withdrawn. The comments back from his teachers are that he is unresponsive and resistant to doing things. He is talking less in class. Davesings 11-13-04, 11:45 AM My son was taking Metadate CD 40mg for quite a while and we found it to be very effective for about 8 hours...the problem with it for him seemed to be that he needed longer coverage, so we switched to Concerta which lasts for 12 hours |
