Does anyone else find it really hard to cope at school with their ADHD when they have to go back after summer?
I start school again on Tuesday and its my last year so I really can't mess up, but when I start school again I have to get used to all the rules again, it's so difficult when all the rules at school are everything I have trouble with.

My ADHD symtoms go into like a massive "high" when I start school again (by the way Im not medicated) and I normally can calm down my symptoms a bit but when school starts again theres no stopping me.

Does anyone know of any strategies that might help me "put on the brakes" at school and also what helps you to re-focus?

I know what that's like... going from carefree, fun, summer, back to boring, workful school. Pretty big transition. They should have like, pre-junior/senior-school or something to help us get back into the swing of things :D

yeh lol, they should start off school like 2 days a week and eventually get up to 5 instead of suddenly having to be at school most of the week. :D

that's a tough one, boone.

Do you think it's so tough because it's very stimulating all at once?

If so, the I suggest just making sure you have time to wind down when you get home from school.
When you find yourself getting overwhelmed, see if you can go to the bathroom or your locker or some other place and take some deep breaths.

I don't know about you, but writing things down to get it straight in my head helps me a lot.

Best wishes!

Well I started school yesterday and I had a pretty god day (for me :D ) but today went quite bad. I think what you said is a good idea so tomorrow im going to talk to my mentor about letting me leave the classroom (with teachers permission of course) and go somewhere to calm down and take a breather.

I used to be allowed to do that but when I had a really good week one week they stopped it (possibly thinking I was cured of my ADHD or something  )
I hate it when people assume you don't have difficulties just because you dont show them sometimes.

Well at the moment, I feel like im not doing very well, I absolutely cannot concentrate. I am trying though.
Next week I will try harder.

Math is my worse class, I mean I can do it, it just takes me forever because I can't retain the numbers in my head, does that make sense?
The class goes to fast for me, (im in the top class but if I move down it will be to easy) there isn't much point of me being there. I would work much better one on one.
