Hi everyone. Does anyone else seem to be missing a certain "filter" in your brain that prevents you from blurting out whatever pops into your head?
I seemed to have misplaced my filter. If anyone knows where it is, please let me know.:eyebrow:

I have a nice muffler. You'll still say awkward things that are potential confusing of offensive, but at least you won't say them as loudly.:p

:) :) :) Ok then, a muffler it is...............is sounds like perhaps that could be my answer. That totally made me laugh out loud.
Thank you for that.......:p
Impulsivity. It is part of adhd. It is caused by impaired cognitive functioning, probably brought about by a fundamental inability to control attention , which itself may be due to (or comorbid with) visualspatial processing defecits.
In short, if you have adhd, it is so very easy to get so scattered that you act impulsively instead of thinking it through.
The only thing that helps me with impulsivity is medication.
Me :D

Mostly my filter works well so I don't think it's missing

I used to burn myself with off hand comments. After awhile I learned to kept my yap shut.
In my teen years, while in social conversations I would blurt out "What?" with out realizng it. Finally a friend of mine pointed out that people were avoiding me because of it. After that I was able to catch myself, eventough I missed someones point.
(It didn't take the early Samuel Jackson segment in Pulp Fiction to get the message across to me)
I'm not sure if I blurt out stuff but I can tell you this.
I don't seem to have awareness (without medication) of what the person who I am talking to is thinking. In other words, I just don't seem to be able to read them. Sometimes I will dominate the conversation and over talk them to death. In relizing this, I tend to think to much while talking. Wondering If I'm going to say the wrong thing, or If I am talking too much. Unfortunatley for someone who as attention problems, doing this makes it even harder for me to focus on what the other person is saying both verbally and in body language.
The only thing that has helped me with this is medication.
