My 6th grader has overnight field trip for 2 nights and 3 days at a Nature Center- which is part of their school curriculum. He is anxious about his peers knowing that he has to go to the nurse in the morning to take meds. He is also anxious because he knows that his morning behavior is totally unorganized and very silly and doesn't want to cause trouble. He doesn't want to raise red flags - but even by telling his teacher, which he hates doing because he mainstreams very well on the meds - she will have to share the information with the parents who are chaperoning in the boys dorms.

Does anyone have any experience with this type of situation?

Focus88, is your son responsible enough to monitor his own meds? If he could, no one else needs to know.

I still remind him everyday. But, maybe it's something I can try to work on him with. The school seems adamant about knowing whatever meds will be there over the counter or prescription and insists on their nurse giving them. So...we'll see. Thanks for your feedback.

No one needs to know why he goes to the nurse. The school should keep it confidential.
