I just started on Adderal XR 20 last week, and today I have to take a drug test soon for a new job. I was wondering if Adderall, being a stimulant, could potentially show-up on the test? Presumably even if it would, if I show my prescription then it should be no problem, but I'm still a bit paranoid.

Yeah, it generally stays visible in your system for up to 72 hours after a dose. I wouldn't worry. I've taken drug tests for several jobs in the past, and each time I tested positive for amphetamines, the medical officer from the testing lab gave me a call a few days later, asked if i was on adderall, and had me give him my prescription number, then he said that the company would send the results to the employer as if I had shown up negative for everything. They usually have a strict privacy code set up, so that the potential employer wont find out that you had the prescription. (if they reveal this information, or even that you failed the initial drug test, they are probably in violation of privacy laws).

I agree, its happened to me, they usually don't care. Here's one hint though - don't take your prescription/bottle/anything with you to the lab. They aren't authorized to document your medication and that can be considered "tainting" the test, and you may have to end up taking it again (which is what happened to me). Let it fail, they'll contact you. I'm sure its pretty common (figure they test for opiod pain killers, benzodiazapines, and amphetamines, all which are prescription medications).
