Hello, I'm a 32yr old male who was diagnosed ADHD this year. I was on Strattera to start, but beyond just not working, the side effects i had were not good for the sex life. So the Dr put me on Concerta. It took some time to feel anything at all. 54mgs were good for about 3 days. 72 was ok, but not completely effective. Now I'm at 90mgs and seem to be in a good spot. Every thing I have read here seems as if this may be to much. So I ask the question if it is. Also i am experiancing alot of neck pain recently. I believe it to be stress related more than anything, but thought i would throw that out there too. As timing of the 90mgs and the neck pain are concurrent. Thanks - Adam

How long have you been on this dosage? I was very tense when i first titrated up to 81 mgs. and that eventually passed for me :).

ya know, looking back into my concerta use (it was like 72 mg's) i had some pretty tense neck muscles (not really neck mor elike the muscle that connects your neck to your shoulder. i tried adderall and dexedrine and had no such problems... thanks for mentioning this i had no idea thats what my pain was coming from...

The dosage was fairly quick considering what I have read here. 18 for 3 days, 36 for 11 days. 54 for 4 weeks, 72 for a week with no change, 90 after that. Thats when I started to notice the benefits. Although all things considered. There is more focus in my life, but I still wander off track. I was thinking of asking to change to Adderall. Also I dont take anything on the weekends unless I know there is something that I need to focus on. But generally im on for 5 days off for 2.

I am going to mention this to my Dr today, as I have an appointment.

That does seem quick to me, Adam. If you have clarity on that dose but are tense? I would wait and see if the tense feeling passed before switching meds if it was me. Its your call of course.

Keep us posted.

The thing is I'm not tense. I do have a job that is stressful at times. But I honestly dont feel tense. I actually was attributing my neck strain to a shoulder injury that I have, but I have noticed the moment I sit at my desk in the morning my neck goes stiff. That leads me to believe it may be a posture thing. Its very confusing to me. I think I hyperfocus on my computer all day, and I get a stiff neck, but for the last month or so its been constant. I like the dose, but if its behind my neck issue I would like to consider making a change. Plus even at 90, I dont feel i am getting the total benefit of being "on" something. I'm not in search for the magical cure to my focus issue, but if Im going to use these medications, I would like to find something that I can honestly feel is working the way it should. Right now at 90mgs, I'm not sure I am getting that. I see my Dr today and will bounce it off her.

Best of luck to you Adam :). I hope you and the doc can come up with a plan that helps you to your best advantage. I get stiff from hyperfocusing on the comp and so forth too.

And you do realise there will never be perfect clarity, right? They key is can you refocus when you get distracted ;). You will always, always, have ADHD. Meds are your tools to a different RRReality, but your rrreality will remain the same for life.
