Hi there!

I recently switched from Adderall XR 20mg

to Adderall IR (amphetimine salts to be specific),

and no matter how many of them I take (Doc said to slowly experiment to find the right dosage for me)

I can't seem to get the same effect that I did with the Adderall XR.

Am I doing something wrong? They are basically the exact same chemical compound (drug), correct?

I'd swear I'm taking sugar pills......?!!


As a side note the reason I switched to the IR was because the XR lasted me 5 hours at the most and doc tried upping me to 30mg which caused my heart to race, so he switched to the IR as he doesn't think my insurance will pay for staggered doses of the XR.

My psychiatrist (ADHD specialist) told me that Adderall XR and Adderall IR can effect people differently.

That's why I don't want to switch to XR because I have great results from taking IR and don't want to mess up what isn't broken!

My sister started on IR and later was switched to XR. She hated it. Felt mean. Back on the IR and doing OK. A little insomnia though.

I'm on IR and have no interest in XR either. Ain't broke don't fit it.

The meds don't seem interchangeable.
