i have been on 20mg adderall xr for about 2 weeks now. And many of the days I get very very tired about 3 hours after taking my meds. Thus preventing me from doing any of my grad work cuz my head is tired. Any suggestions?

One possibility is that it may be wearing off very quickly meaning you either need 2 doses/day rather than one dose/day, or you may need to explore other options for meds or try adderall IR (youd think it wouldnt be any better but youd be surprised sometimes). Talk to doc.

not really sure if i can take the IR.....I have a very senstive body and the IR could cause chest pains a few other short term pills have. Strattera and concerta did also. I have been on this for 3 weeks and so far no chest pains...but get so damn tired

A longer lasting, slow release can make a big difference in the fatigue-it is very common to have that when the dose wears off-you may need to take the 20mg 2-3x a day. In grad school, you need to be able to function for 16 hours-the demands are so intense-I got my masters's before dx and know how hard you have to work-the meds should help, but you probably need full day coverage!

Let us know what the doc says.

Maybe you should talk to your doctor. I was just on Strattera and the tiredness never went away along with some other things that it caused. Different medications do different things to different people. Maybe Adderall isnt right for you.

Uh, if you had chest pain on the last medication and now fatigue, you should probably talk to a cardiologist, that's kinda scary.

the chest pains were strictly do to the medication i was on for ADD..nothing is wrong with my heart. I got all that checked out by a cardiologist. Me being tired is a life long battle..( in contribute it partly to add) but it is just made worse by adderall i think. Its not a heart issue. But thanks for your concern. Much appreciated.

For the other post about taking it multiple times a day. Perhaps I would have to break up my dosage a couple times a day but i don't know if i should take 20 mre then once a day (perhaps i could try 10mg 2 times a day) My body is just so sensitive the heart goes fast....kinda like when i have lots of caffiene. :)

I know I've read on here somewhere that sleep apnea can cause those symptoms, as well as ADD like symptoms. Might be worth asking your doctor about, and possibly getting a sleep study done? I've heard(? read?) that sleep apnea can also cause heart problems as well.
Anywhoo-:)
