I think it would be a good idea to add a medications list to the user profile that would be part of the signature. This would save posters a lot of time and space asking what medications the poster is on.

I also think it would be a good idea to have a diagnosed/undiagnosed icon to go beside... under... above the avatar to let people know the status of the individual posting. As in under "BlahBlah's" name... have diagnosed ADD inattentive with comorbid Social Anxiety. Meds= Concertia + etc. You could even allow them to tell what kind of doctor they were diagnosed and perscribed by. I think this would allow forum members to understand and to post more relevantly than they currently do. Not that they aren't relevant now... It's just that I think it would save miss-communications.

I know the user can define their own signature to add all this stuff in... but why not add the options to the user cp?

Only if it is optional, of course.

There are many members, including myself, who don't feel obligated to disclose anything we don't want to.

You can always write whatever you choose (including your med subscriptions) in your signature, now.

I can see a lot of complaints from people offended that the site itself would ask such a personal question. Especially since we make it clear in the guidelines that we're not a substitute for medical advice, etc.

The option is certainly there for info in signatures and profiles, as can be seen by a very few members who have shared it, but the number of those who don't share it I think is very telling.

Who knows, you may have just given a lot of people an idea they hadn't considered.

What I had in mind WOULD be OPTIONAL. So far I've found that this is an open and honest and pretty much informal forum. People tend to let strangers into their lives to a point that many would not allow their own friends.

While this can be a bad thing... it can also be a boon to all... the poster... the reader... and the one asking questions. I just think it would rid the site of endless redundancy... and maybe uncover some insightfull truths... by allowing a "Voluntary" User CP that allows a history of medications and maybe even an efectiveness scale. It would be completetly voluntary and without cohersion. I believe this would save a lot of confusion when asking about certain meds... and if diagnosis were a part of it... different conditions.

Anywhoo... Hope it gets some consideration.:D
