In the 70's Adderall, callled (Obetrol) was a weight loss pill. The EXACT same pill was changed in appearance and renamed Adderall, then put into use as an ADD pill-even the colour of the 10mg and 20mgIR pills was kept.

that happens to many drugs. after using it for one thing, researchers observe that it helps with other things as well or even better than the original intention, so the use is changed,

This is not a big secret. It makes sense to rename it for marketing purposes. I like the fact that it has been around and there is a large body of research on it. I don't see anything nefarious with Shire's actions - they would not expect to be able to keep this a secret just be changing the color.

Keep in mind that long before it was used for either of those purposes, it was used to treat asthma, bronchitis, and other respiratory ailments, as it is a very good decongestant and bronchodilator. In fact, if I remember correctly, I think it might have been an asthma attack that prompted the use of benzedrine in a student at a school for delinquent boys in NY that first showed how stimulants can help people with ADHD

i was given obetrol once to see if it'd help adhd in 1991 I think and it was just as bad with me as adderall it seemed to have some differences from what I recall but I am a brand snob as my doc says I take dex and need the brand name and I found the immediate release 30 mg adderall to help but only the brand name version was any good the rest had nasty side effects
