I just switched from Adderall XR 15 mg 2 x per day to Dex Spansules 10 mg 2 x per day.
I'm noticing a big difference compared to the adderall. My Doctor said they were basically the same thing, but the dex is definitely affecting me differently.
The adderall was more physical, but also more low frequency (best way I can describe it), and by the sixth week after my second dose I was almost too mellow. The morning does was great. I was calm, focused, and feeling mroe postive than usual. The problem is that after it wore off at night I had a real hard time sleeping, and I wouls notice my heart beating in my ears.
So, two days ago I switched to Dex spansules, and now I seem to be going through some initial side effects:
1. A little hyper and more talkative during the day (Didn't have this on adderall). Maybe the best word is unsettled. (High Freqeuncy?)
2. I feel more awake and alert than I was on the adderall, but also more high strung?
3. I'm having to really focus on not biting the side of my cheek. I didn't have this on adderall.
4. My jaws tend to be pretty tight throughout the day. I'm continual opening my mouth to loosen my jaw.
5. A little spaciness and occasional staring (I had this when I started adderall also)
6. Some difficulty sleeping, which I didn't have when I initially started adderall.
7. When it wears off I really notice a mental rebound, not tension or irritability, but more compulsive (OCD) than I remember being. I get trapped in patterns. (IE surfing the net etc.) I didn't have this on adderall. I would get more of a physical/emotional rebound.
So, will these SE's go away after a few days? in a month? or are they just part of the price for an alert, focused mind for an innatentive adult add?
Thanks for any and all replies.
The good news is that I don't seem to be having any problems with my heart on dex.
