A pharmacy told me this. Is this legit? Or do they just have no idea what's going on...

edit (yeah it was too late to edit my post): I believe that the pharmacy may be confusing mallinkrodt with whatever other manufacturer that they partnered with who (possibly??) isnt currently making the pills. Hmmm very confusing.

You're absolutely correct. This pharmacy has no idea what's going on. Mallinckrodt supplies the manufacturer with the chemical to make the brand name Dexedrine.

Well, I called GSK and they said Abbott Labs discountinued making Dexedrine. Then I spoek with a pharmacists who said first Dex was on back order then they heard it is was discontinued, and now he is hearing the same about the Mallinkrodt. Nobody has or can get the Mallinkrodt brand were I am. The closest pharmacy I could find is over 2 hours away.


Thanks for reminding me - I was meaning to call Malllinkrodt back today. I will call right now and let everyone know what answer I get.

I just spoke with Mallinkrodt and the lady said they have it in stock and she has not heard of any intent to discontinue.


Lets hope she is right.

Now all I have to do is find someone who carries it.

Most places will just get whatever their wholesaler is willing to send them. IE they wont go out of their way to get an off brand so you get stuck with barr or dextrostat.

just a note: i did find a phamacy (actually an hmo pharmacy) who easily and happily ordered mallinkrodt for me - i guess it is still out there.

I think it'd be on the FDA site if either the brand or Mallinckrodt but GSK apparently isn't discontinuing it according to this narcolepsy newsletter I read and I had Mallinckrodts for the last 3 months
