I am currently taking 80mg of Strattera in the morning along with 4-5 20mg Adderall tablets throughout the day. My question is regarding to my apparent lack of wanting to socialize. I have come to realize that Strattera alone reduces about 50% of my adhd symptoms, which is tolerable in my classroom. I can still follow the powerpoint presentations of my professors, but I won't retain the information. But it's okay, as I can study them later. I want to be able to talk to people around me. When my meds wear off at night, I'm always hitting myself in the head for not talking to the pretty girl next to me. I notice that when I take Strattera along with the Adderall, I really don't care to talk to anyone. I'm not afraid to socialize; I just don't really care. If you know what I mean. A true sign the meds are REALLY WORKING.
I want to try to hook up with this one girl next to me in one of my classes and I'll always talk myself into striking up a conversation with her before I go to bed the day before when my meds have worn off, but then the next day when I resume them I don't even really think about talking to her. It's great that my medications are working so well that I don't care to hit on women, but I would like some advice so as to become somewhat social again while being medicated. For example, if I drop Adderall only when I'm in class and only take my Strattera -- only adding Adderall in times of extreme need after I finish school for the day -- will this allow me to somewhat pay attention as well as being social?
Would taking Strattera by itself while in class, considering that Strattera used to be an anti-depressant, allow me to want to socialize with people around me? It seems like Adderall might be the culprit in terms of my social skills, but I want to be sure of the likelihood of this before I stop taking it while at school. Because when I'm at home alone, of course I'll take Adderall without hesitation because there's no one to socialize with and I could more than make up for the 50% of the symptoms that Strattera doesn't cover. Any help would be appreciated...
