Hi All,

Has anyone had problems with an anti-depressant effecting their other medication or causing depression?
I am on 10mg of Lexapro and 20mg Ritalin LA twice a day.
When I first started on the Lexapro I became very tired and unmotivated and my Adderall at the time didn't seem to do much at all.. I thought it was the Adderall that was making me tired so Dr. switched me to Ritalin LA.. Still feeling the same way tired, unmotivated, weepy, and depressed.. When the Ritalin kicks in I can tell a little because I am not so depressed or weepy, but still am tired or lazy..
I don't know what to do now..
Does anyone have or have had this problem with an anti-depressant? Any info would be great and appreciated..

Have you spoken to your doctor about this?

I had a similar problem. My stimulent medication didn't work as well when I started on Prozac. My pharmicist told me that it's kind of a see saw effect -- when the serotonin (what is targeted by antidepressant) goes up the dopamine (part of what is targeted by Ritalin) goes down. I was on Concerta (which is methylphenidate the same as Ritalin) and Prozac which is an SSRI like Lexapro. The combo works well for some people I've heard, but it caused me all kinds of problems, including involuntary tics.

You might check out the first chapter of Prozac Backlash on line - you can just google it. It discusses problems that sometimes occur with the SSRI's like Prozac, Lexapro and the others.

I have to take Celexa before I go to sleep -it does make me drowsy and it is harder to focus sometimes...
