Many people with ADHD are right brained, visual-spatial thinkers.

Which are you ?

I'm slightly right brained, and definitely visual-spatial.

Take the left/right brain dominance test at the url below and find out.

Interesting thread Speedo..

I took the fast Righthand test...but some of the questions I answered are things I want to be not necessarily things I am, I was slightly lefthand. Does that mean anything.

I like order and want to be clean, rules etc...but unfortunatley my life is not like this.

So question is, does this determine anything about me?

Left brain dominant individuals are more orderly, literal, articulate, and to the point. They are good at understanding directions and anything that is explicit and logical. They can have trouble comprehending emotions and abstract concepts, they can feel lost when things are not clear, doubting anything that is not stated and proven.

Right brain dominant individuals are more visual and intuitive. They are better at summarizing multiple points, picking up on what's not said, visualizing things, and making things up. They can lack attention to detail, directness, organization, and the ability to explain their ideas verbally, leaving them unable to communicate effectively.

Overall you appear to be Right Brain Dominant

Handedness can indicate which side of the brain is dominant.
Left-handed people are typically right brained, for example.
Conversely, right-handed people are likely to be left brain dominant.

People who are ambidextrious are sometimes able to switch from right to left brained thinking and back, at will.

In testing I turn out to be ambidextrious. I am actually a lefty, but can switch. I do prefer my left hand, and I seem to mostly be right brained.

Here is the link to the test again: http://similarminds.com/personality_tests.html :)

Wonder whether this had any effect on my tendencies (chicken and egg argument); as a child I was left handed but was "encouraged" by teachers to learn to use my right hand predominantly, which is what I am now.

its funny you should say ambidextrious, my sister is ADD and she can also write with both hands. But that may have something to do with the fact she had a stroke as a child from a brain tumor, paralizing her right side, so when she got better she could use both hands.

ok I will take the test and come back

I nearly had a breakdown in grade school when I had a teacher insist that I be right handed. My parents interceded on my behalf. I'm glad thay did, because It was a real nightmare for me to try to be something that I was not. As far as I am concerned it is an abusive situation when someone tries to force a lefty to be right handed.

Lol, I did learn to write backwards with my right hand. I'm pretty slow at it these days and I print only, but I can still do it.

I took the test as I am now...insted of who I want to be,
and it was 56% righthand.

you mean 56% right-brained ?

If you were right handed you would probably be left brained.

Now I am confused...lol what else is new.

I am righthanded..so the first one was right I suppose...I don't know anymore

Oops initially I meant rightbrained not righthand lol

right-handed==left-brained

and

left-handed=right brained

It is because the left side of the brain is connected to the right side of the body and the right side of the brain is connected to the left side of the body. :p

Cool thread! Thanks Speedo!

72% left brained.

That is me! I like orderly and can't keep it that must be why I am so tired all the time. Hubby says I am a big square!

I am right handed and left brained....

We should send this to Mythbusters to see if can be confirmed or busted!

I took the short test (guessing everyone else did the same :D ) and got 48% right and 42% left. The results said I have fairly equal hemispheres.

The correlation between handedness and brain lateralization is really just about which hemisphere is specialized for language skills, and it's not a perfect correlation by any means, especially for left-handed people. Here's a short article that explains it a little more:

Right handed and right brained.

Showed no preference for right or left hand as a child.

58% left-brain dominant, which I totally disagree with. Generally I fit the right-brain profile much better, must have gotten ADD on some of the questions...

I'm right brained dominant, and right handed. I took the short test, could concentrate long enough for a longer one.

right brain 58%
left brain is 42% i guess..
so i'm about almost equal..
oh and i'm a right hander.
i can write with my left hand, but i would never consider myself ambidextrous- i am always interested in teaching myself how to do useless things/information
and when i was in elementary school i wondered how i would write if my right hand were broken..
so i taught myself! lol i'm such a natural born dork.
