I've skimmed parts of it... that's about the way I read... His suggestions aren't really off the wall or anything like that. For classic (combined/hyper only) and inattentive, he recommends stimulants just like everyone else. For overfocused (some believe he's referring to OCD + ADD), he recommends stimulants + anti-depressants, or possibly even multiple reuptake inhibitors like Effexor. As far as the other types, I don't really remember, as I wasn't really interested in those. He does mention L-tyrosine as something to take along with the meds though...

thx for your reply
i think the overfocused add type it kinda differend then normal OCD
on a ocd board i often hear ppl talking about the pure o type (worrying, but not checking things over and over) i beleive that might be a type of ADD

ah effexor, i heared bad things about its withdrawall

Well, there are other anti-depressants that might help too, like tricyclics (desipramine for example). The problem with Effexor is that it has a very short half-life, so it is more difficult to get off of. Because of the short half-life, the dose would have to be reduced very gradually in order to not experience serious withdrawl effects, and depending on the form that the medication is delivered in (tablets, capsules, etc.), that may be difficult to do gradually..

Edit: desipramine is probably a bad example for OCD like symptoms... imipramine would probably be better in that scenario.

I think the biggie difference with Dr. Amen is his use of SPECT imaging in making his diagnosis and his difference in ADD subtypes.

Futurepast did you happen to take the test while medicated? Mine did the same thing when answering according to my medicated state however my unmedicated state came out a lot differently.

Actually, the reason why it comes out all negative is because you aren't viewing the link on Futurepast's computer... it will only come out right if viewed right after taking the test on his computer system, as the information used to calculate the results is passed to that script using his browser... it's not provided in the URL itself.

The bottom line: those aren't his actual results. In order to post them, he will have to copy and paste it into a post.

As HF says, those aren't my, or your results. The page displays correctly only after taking the tests.

However, that page has a fairly good overview of Dr. Amen's subtypes and suggested meds etc.
