I am the hyper type myslef and the Spansule doses only cover certain symptoms (they are the slowdown ) and as far as concentration goes those are what I need the IR dosage for... It may also be the brand of dexedrine as well try the glaxo or mallinckrodt brand they seem to be the best... Barr and Dextrostat seem to have the poorer quality to them

XR is basicly 2 doese of IR in one capsule... In my experience it works very much the same but takes the guess work out of when to take the next (or last) dose. If your the type who forgets to take the second dose it's likely for you. I find it almost exactly the same... unless you count my bank account that feel alot emptier.
People seem to be confused about how to dose it in relation to the IR. It's simple really. You take the IR every 4-6 hours. day. If you take 10mg IR twice per day then you need one 20mg XR once per day. The XR will only release half it's amount at anyone time. If you replace your 10mg IR with a 10mg XR then you have effectively lowered your dose to 5mg twice per day... a common mistake.
The XR has it's place but I feel it's way overrated and VERY overmarketed. Shire loves it because they make so much money off it when it's really just same thing but you only need to take it once per day. When they released it they acted like the IR didn't even exist anymore. And you would think that to be the case based on how many people are on it vs. the IR.
