Okay, so I'm a pretty smart kid for my age, taking a math course thats about 2 years ahead of the other kids in highschool in my area...I'm a freshman taking Algebra II, and I absolutely HATE MATH. When I say "hate", I mean it's absolutely the most useless and pointless thing on the planet to me. Anyone that enjoys math in my eyes is nuts and needs a hobby (no offense if you love finding the common multiplicative functions of matrices). Anyway, math has sucked for me every year..I get decent grades because that's what is expected, but it has to be the worst thing for me and my ADD. Number one, the classes around here are an hour and a half long every other day. That means I have to sit in this SILENT room for 90 minutes. Not only that, but I have a few pet peaves...and one of them is obnoxious french-african accents. So, naturally, my teacher has this extremely whiney, loud, french voice and doesn't speak much decent english. He says a few phrases over and over and over like "Ev-y-one agrees?" and "EYES UP HE-UH!" whenever he explains or does something. And I mean, in a silent class, this dude does NOT need to make his voice as loud as it is. Anyway...

He seems to like giving me special attention...putting me at the front of the class and checking to make sure I'm doing my work. What the hell is his problem? He should be checking on the JUNIORS who are SLEEPING in the back of the class. This guy is not only annoying, but he doesnt like me. I don't think I can take a whole year of this, and its only the second quarter!

Someone, tell me what I should do. It's too late to transfer out, and besides, the other math teacher is even worse I hear. At least she doesn't have a french accent though...

And I tend to lose my work ethic and focus around the same time every class...normally when I have to "use the restroom" or get a "drink of water" or something that gets me out of his ridiculous class.

Thanks for listening about my math teacher rant...can anyone help? Simliar experiences?

Is it okay that you leave the room during class to go to the rest room or get a drink? If the teacher doesn't have an issue with it then maybe thats an okay strategy to help you get through this class.

I'm impressed that even though you can't stand this teacher that you are still able to do well in class. That's something I had problem with in high school. If I didn't have respect for the teacher I didn't do well in the class. I wish I had done well in those classes though.

Wow my math teacher is exactly the same, apart from the accent.
I absolutely hate maths as well, but then im not very good at it. Ok I am good at it but im just slower to learn then everyone else in the class and I have trouble retaining numbers in my head.

At least your teacher checks if you are doing your work, mine just ignores me because I frustrate her when I can't do it.

Just keep going, you've got this far. Stick it out and then you can leave. :D

GODDDDD YES! I hate hate hate hate math too. It drives me up the damn wall. Everytime i know i have to go to math class i feel like i wanna go stab myself to get out of it. I like to call my math teacher "adolfa hitler." She constanly yells and if like 5 people in the class are misbehaving the whole class has to stay in at lunch hour. She thinks that i am lazey and that i just don't care. I haaaate it!
