All my life i have had trouble in math. And when i say i suck you DO NOT KNOW THE HALF OF IT. The teachers treat me like i am a damn moron. They tell me something one day and the next day i don't remember what they said. So they just assume that i'm a dumb ***. I have a ADD for god sakes! I don't remember stuff as easily as other kids. I am failing math class cause of their ignorance. I just don't know what to do anymore. :(

What math are you taking? I love math. I get A's in math every year but then I go and fail the rest of my classes because I hate all the other subjects.
Maybe I can try and help you out a little bit with it.

re: #1, memory problems in learning math

Yup. ADHD is a working memory disorder, so ofcourse we can't remember things, like math, that we learn in class. (Unless we repeat them many times in one session and do things to make learning them relevant and interesting).

It has nothing to do with intelligence. :) So, no, you are not "dumb"

It has nothing to do with intelligence. :) So, no, you are not "dumb"I am so happy to read that.. I too have problems in math... I have a test tomorrow too, and I know I wont do well.

As soon as I hear the word math, my mind goes dead. Its like uh oh! here's math again! *turn off*

The good ole days of algebra... about 5 months ago :p

Do the teachers know what you're going through? It might impact them if you do tell them, for the better. Or if they don't write notes on the board, ask if you can bring in a tape recorder, so you can listen to it again if you need to.

Speaking of tape recorder, you could also play back their notes really slow in a low tone; that always cracks me up :D

i was wondering is a school required to provide accomidations to the disabled (ADHD children) as my school doesnt do that, they have special ed and thats it is that legal fo rthem to deney me the right to a quiet seperate room with no distractions?

and maybe your school has a room you can go to to during tests, and this bit of advise was given to me and i will share with you:

since your in high school (AND TRUST ME ON THIS TRUST ME TRUST ME!!!! especially if your in a big school) if the teacher knows you knows your face not you as the kid who sits by the door or by this person, i mean go to that teacher during tutorials, before school whenever talk to him/her let them know you care, and ask to try and turn in late assignments, go and ask for help because if you do they will mostlikely notice that you care about your grade and if your failing they might try to 'help you out' by giving you a curve (there not suppose ot but they do thats how i passed algebra / english one grading period) trust me shwo the teacher you care and they will help you!!
