View Full Version : paranoia?
Color Scheming 11-20-06, 01:06 AM Anyone else expierence or have expierenced bad paranoia? I seem to be scared of a lot, the dark , the unknown a lot. Is this part of a.d.d maybe a co-existing condition? Or is that a personality conflict?
take care
edit, i apologize if this should be in another section of the board.
Are we talking about anxiety, or paranoia ?
It's not a personality conflict.
If you get paranoid ideas... Ideas that are fearful but have no basis in fact, then it is paranoia.
The "I'm okay, the world is all wrong" attitude is a paranoid state of mind.
If you find yourself getting anxious, maybe even fearful about everyday things... things that are REAL, then I'd have to vote on ANXIETY. Unchecked anxiety can make you a bit paranoid, and make life in general pretty miserable, so it is something that ought to be dealt with. Lots of people who have ADHD have anxiety , and some have anxiety disorders along with their ADHD. In fact, it is quite common.
Either way, you should talk to your doctor about it.

Color Scheming 11-20-06, 02:49 AM yeah, right now i dont have a pyschiatrist. The one i was seeing a little while ago, i cant go to anymore since i dont have medical insurrance, and ive been state hopping for alittle bit now. Currently im in vegas, pretty soon ill be in bronx, ny. So i dont want to start opening up to a psych. until i now im gonna stick with that one. dont like to tell my life story and open up to many people.
thanks for the reply
take care
I hope I've helped. Whatever you do please take it to a doctor.
I had a friend who had paranoid ideas and she pretty much dismantled our friendship because of it. It was SO unnecessry and a very sad thing. You can't convince someone who is paranoid that they have a false idea. It's just not going to happen.
A person has to realze that there is a problem and seek help. Paranoia can just be due to living with lots of anxiety, or it could be due to something more serious like bipolar disorder or schizophrenia. If it goes on unchecked for a long time it can leave you psychotic, and friendless after you have driven away everyone in your life. Plese do take it to a doctor.

Color Scheming 11-20-06, 03:05 AM yes i know someone who was paranoid in the way your talking. it really is very sad
With me it seems a wierd paranoia of ghosts/the dead/demons, and the dark. since i was a kid i was terrified at the thought of robbers and stuff like that. I cant sleep without the t.v on with sound and the lights on. and i will not go within 500 yards of a haunted house. which is quite funny to other people im 5'11 a big girl as far as athletic wise go plus i got some extra loving going on haha, so when they see me chicken out its funny to them.
Idk if im just a big baby or really have something going on. It doesnt bother me too much except at night time.
It sounds like a phobia. If you have adhd, you may have some anxiety and maybe the phobia stems from that. It's easy for people who tend to overfocus (ie: ADDErs) to get stuck on a phobia, I think. Some ADDers have OCD, and it might be a manifestation of that as well....
Maybe it is nothing major, just "you" doing what you do. If it causes problems for you then call it an issue, but maybe it is just a quirk of your personality.
I can remember when I used to get "the creeps" at night.
I did not even like being in a dark room at night. That persisted well into my teen years. I eventually outgrew it.

Color Scheming 11-20-06, 04:40 AM im 19 with a daughter, hopefully it will grow out lol she will be sleeping with the lights off before i do. :( :) lol
Matt S. 11-20-06, 12:08 PM I have PTSD and often speculate that the past is going to repeat itself and often come across as paranoid but it is really regression and anxiety

meadd823 11-23-06, 05:29 AM I get spooked for no reason on rare occasions, I don't believe in hauntings so that isn't a problem, the robber thing is a reality so I do try to make it as inconvenient to rob me as possible, but not a hyperfocus.
I am told by my doctor that most of my muscle spasms, some of my head aches , and the occasional bouts of chest pain are physical reactions to an anxiety I am too ADD to notice. . . .I have been prescribed Xanax I am to take when these physical incidences occur.
