Hi,
I have SAD and have just recently been investigating different meds. My main problem is I have to teach classes soon, but will not be able to control my anxiety. I must have medication to control it, otherwise I panic. Sweating, blushing, shaking, shaky voice and fast heart rate are some of the symptoms. I never knew I had SAD until after High School. However, I wished I would have known then. It ruined my entire young life. Now, I must get out in the real world and work. I will be teaching in my father's Spanish school, but ofcourse this will be impossible without some kind of medication. Does anyone have any recommendations? I bought non-prescription Deanxit today and will try it. I am also considering Prozac. Again, my main problem is not so much going out in crowded places, I can control that to a certain level, but rather speaking in public. Any suggestions would be helpful. thank you

It would not be right or unfair to you to suggest a particular type of med. While we are ADD/ADHD, we are all built differently and our bodies require different things. I suggest that you do work with a medical professional to explore options for you that will both maximize the effectives for you, while not putting you at risk.

Most importantly, I would suggest you investigate the Exercise Section in this forum also. There is a progressive relaxation exercise I do every day also there. It is beginning to sound redundant in the replies I post, but it works! Good luck to you!

i have SAD too. i do many many things to deal with it. i take 100 mg.Zoloft as well and like it. 20 mg XR Adderall helps too. At the moment of panic, I do breathing exercises, recite afirmations, hold coins in my pocket and/or look down and do some menial task for 30 seconds or til I stop shaking.
the most important thing for me to remember IN THE MOMENT, is that it's alright for me to be nervous. I am an important part of the universe. This feeling WILL pass.
BIG SIGH. you know when we deny our feelings, we tend to hold our breath. A great big sigh acknowledges our feelings and allows us to move forward and change.

GoOD Luck, Oh, also, there is this melt on your tongue pill called Nivram. it's for RIGHT NOW, I'M HAVING A PANIC ATTACK AND I CAN'T STOP IT.
