Ok, I'm scanning through the sleep disorders messages and links and it's really interesting. My son and I both have what I would call a sleep disorder. But I'm not seeing it listed or anything written on the message boards about it. We both (especially my son) have VERY active sleep habits. My son sleep walks and talks and roams around the house from room to room. He's done it ever since he was old enough to walk, he's 12 1/2 now. He wakes me up doing it even LOL, and I have to say "Chaz, go back to bed" and he hears me (while still asleep) and goes and lays back down and continues sleeping. This happends every night, and most of the time I have him sleep downstairs on the couch instead of in his bed upstairs because I'm worried he'll fall down the stairs in his sleep. And I want to have him close enough to wake me up so I can tell him to go lay back down. I do almost the same kind of thing only I EAT in my sleep instead of just walking around. And it's usually something sweet, especially chocolate. I'm amazed I don't weigh 500 pounds. Neither one of us has a hard time going to sleep though, or waking up in the morning. Chaz and I are both ADD. Sooooooooo, now I'm wondering if the two have anything to do with each other. Anyone ever heard of a sleep disorder like this?? Like, I'd love to know if it had a name....besides sleep walking. If anyone knows of any good sights that describe such a thing....lemme know, I'd be very interested to read about it. Thanks

Hey thanks Big!! Umm, I read the sleep eating thing, I'm not on a diet and I'm not overweight so I'm thinking it's more along the same lines as my son's sleep walking/talking. And I've never seen him having a night terror. Although sometimes he's mad in his dreams, other times he's giggling and laughing too. I never thought anything of this behavior really until I got married to my current husband and he thought my son was possessed. LOL (btw, my son is not possessed) But the first couple of times he saw Chaz walking and talking in his sleep I think it scared him to death. Guess I shoulda warned him?? OOOh and my kids have taken at least one picture of me in the middle of the night with a pop-tart hanging out of my mouth while I'm sound asleep. They think it's very funny. I remember stories about my cousins walking into the kitchen and going to the bathroom in the trash can. So, I'm thinking this is a hereditary kinda thing. So far it hasn't caused any damage that I know of. And it's just a quirky kinda thing. I have been reading about Parasomnias (starting last night). It's interesting....and I have to say that my dreams are very vivid and alot of the time horrifying....that's the only thing that worries me, not for myself but only that it would be hereditary and my son might pick that up from me as well. I think I'll start asking him questions about his dreams and paying more close attention to them. Thanks for the response!!
