Brain Trainer, for the Nintendo DS (for those of you who don't know) is a game that challanges your brain and therefore, increases the blood flow, and activity in the brain (mostley around the frontal cortex area)

Can this really help people with ADD, and ADHD?

There is a link to a page about the game.

I didn't click, but I believe I am familiar with this new invention. I really don't see the point in it because the characters only slow down if the child (or adult) loses focus and frankly? I have realized that video games are hyperfocusing candy for ADHD people.

I'm not shure what you mean by "characters slow down" crazy,

And i just realized that i wrote down the wrong title....its Brain Age

the game "boosts memory and consentration" by increaseing the bloodflow in the brain.

==yawn== (sleepy :p )

you do easy, but challangeing things, that are designed to make you think, an use your noggin.

DS (adhdkid39, here) has used it for a while, and his scores did increase, which can only be a good thing, but it didn't do anything for his ADHD that i could note, otherwise it would be part of his daily routine. :-=) It's been a while since had gotten on it, but about 2 weeks ago, about 22 weeks into this therapy we are doing, his scores had not increased over the time. Don't know exactly what that means! It's a fun game, and I think that anything you do to stimulate learning, thinking out of the box (like reading the word red that is colored blue) is terrific brain stimulation! And, the game is kinda fun too!

I had the wrong game in mind, please disregard my former post. I still say any interesting video game is hyperfocusing candy and will not get a true reading in the ADHD brain, though.

The game boasts that it "helps memory, and consentration" by increaseing the blood-flow to the temporal lobe.

But, add is a chemical problem in the brain right? So if those results are true, I guess it would be the same for everyone...nothing to do with the blood.

And crazy feet, its not so much a game. you do things like mutiply as fast as you can. Read as fast as you can aloud, remember the places of numbers, keep track of objects entering and leaveing the a house, etc.

So it's 'about' memorization as well as expediency in 'tasks'... ?

Is it really pricey, or cheap enough that no one would get upset if it got used twice and never remembered again? If it comes with a money-back guarantee, well....

Never tried this sort of thing, so I don't know.

Geez..Char..give Vhan a break, lol !

He didn't 'create' the program..he's just implying that it 'might be helpful'...

It's up to each of us, individually, to 'determine' if it's actually, 'helpful' or not, lol !

I totally adore you, Char. (0:
'You' remind me of 'parts' of me.

Huh, my sig? :p

well, today I didn't have my meds (combo of not telling my dad I was running low, and docters office closeing early becasue of weather)

Before school started, I just took out my DS, and did a few exersises, and what not.
I wont say that I did ok, or did better, but it wasn't as bad as normal days without my meds.

Cher, the game its self is $20.00, not incluseinf the DS, and i forget how much those are costing these days.

Sorry, didn't mean to sound critical, it actually sounds intriguing to me. The comment was less about the game itself, and more about the risks of trying it...I've seen games based on this idea going for $550, and if you pay that much your family is going to expect results OR ELSE.

Whereas if you drop $20 bucks on it and it doesn't work out, it will still come up occasionally, but it won't be as big an issue.

Just a matter of practical familial politics!

Well, its not really made to counter ADD, just the stuff mentiond above.

(sadley this is turning out to be a rather dry topic... :p )

I have it. Haven't played it in a long time, and I honestly kind of doubt it will really do anything for your brain, but who knows.

It's got a Sudoku game included with it, and I used to burn up hours on that. Yep, hyperfocusing candy, for me at least.

Its might cause a couple extra neurons to bounce around but blood flow?
