I know that repeating habits is a symptom of both Asperger's and OCD, but I'm pretty sure I don't have either of those.

There is one area in my life where I repeat somthing over and over again without tire to a degree that makes me think it's a part of my ADD and not just a personality quirk.

I can listen to one song or a set of 2 or 3 songs over and over again without getting tired of it for hours at a time. Even if I have other songs available that I like I will only listen to this one song. It just NEVER gets old.

The habit doesn't cause me any anxiety, I actually think it's kinda funny. I wanted to know if any other ADDer's have habits like this.

I think it's a part of stimulation seeking. A certain song triggers daydreams or feelings that my brain can't get enough of no matter how much I .

Eventually I find a new song to be hooked on and the cycle repeats itself for weeks at a time.

THanks dorm.
Somtimes I notice unuaual things about myself. And I"m noticing more and more all the time. But now it's more of an interesting thing instead of a humiliating or embarrasing one. I'm able to "see" myself better. Just can't get these blasted songs out of my head!

I do *that*, Aiz.

I listen to certain CDs, or 'songs/music', I *like*, 'over and over', without tiring of them.

I do that with certain 'movies', I *like*, also.

Aiz? I swear Spacemania listened to "The Macarena" 47 times in a row tonight...and her sister Missing does the same thing you do. Even BDH has to listen to "Turn the Page" at least 7 times before leaving on each run...seems to be pretty normal at my house!

I can listen to a song that brings back a certain pleasant emotion or memories a couple of times but hours on end!!!!!! Uh no. . . . my turn to be the minority I guess. I can't do hours on end and still like the thing the next day. . . movies I like three maybe four times tops. . . . .

Maybe it is the hyperactivity in me!

Perhaps it may be because after three times I can hear the song or watch the movie in my head at will. . . . then there are the songs and movies (or parts thereof) that get stuck there in my head. . .against my will. . . .hours of repeating seem just to close to stuck stuff. . . . . Oh well thought I share my differences. . . don’t really know why I am different just am!

Hate when stuff gets stuck up there but somehow merge with other stuff. Three different songs become one song all harmonized together. Takes the wife to point it out that I am not singing one song.:p

Yeah, I can listen to a single song for hours at a time without it getting old. Happens quite a bit when I find something I really like, actually. Generally I need to feel strong emotion from the song to do it, though.

Now that my DD is 2 I get toddler songs mixed in with my contemporary gospel and classic rock.

I tend to listen to a song on repeat all day long at work (on headphones! otherwise my coworkers would kill me).

I find one song just becomes "back ground noise" and helps get rid of other distractions.

How many MASH episodes have I seen 10-20 or more times each? Still love em! Yep, CF, I can zone out and go to sleep easier when watching reruns. Interesting.

I have theories but I only experiment on myself with SAFE alternatives ;) Professor CF practices what she preaches.

Yes, I can listen to the same song over and over again without getting tired of it. I love music. But my favorites, I can listen to continuously, picking up different sounds and trying to figure out the lyrics and what they mean.

I do this as well with music. That's why I say ADD == Boredom Aversion as opposed to Redundancy Aversion. Redundancy isn't necessarily bad in itself. It's only bad when the "verb" is bad... the repetition factor only makes it that much worse.

Now that I think about it...
They wouldn't sell CDs or DVDs, if people didn't want to listen or watch them, more than once.

Or any other similar 'products' for that matter.

I've re-read books, that I *love*, more than once.

I can listen to my CD's more than once, but I do much of my own burning and do long CD's so I do listen to the same CD time or two not the same song. . .Even playing the entire CD after the third time of hearing an 80 minute CD my hinny hurts any way and I have to move . . . I have already broken one computer chair wiggling, doing stuff like holding my butt up with my arms and swinging so I could tolerate being on the computer longer. . . .probably should get a stronger chair this time around.

I don't mind being different I am used to it. I don't mind others being different I am used to that tooooo so keep those head phones a go'in and enjoy who you are!
