For the longest time, I struggled with the question of whether or not to take medication while working. Mind you, i am not a fighter pilot or sword swallower, but I was still concerned nonetheless.
After trying to perform my duties without meds, I concluded that the only way I would consistently get my work accomplished (on time, this century) was if I stayed on my medication.
BIG
At the job is when I need my medication the most. I could literally feel myself slipping away when things would get boring or tedious. With my med's I could/can power through those spells and really hyper focus on what I need to complete.
A soon as I first started to take ritalin my life changed and i am so much more organised together and I do things and to me I think I operate more like others but I still have all the good parts of me I had before the creativity the slightly sideways look on life and the world which often used to puzzel people but makes me who I am the ain reason for replying is your mention of hyperocus I still do it I have always done it but now I can pull away if I have to and I actually acheive 10 times more when I do hyperfocus where as before I used to hyperfocus but never seemed to achieve much.
fiona
Fiona...I truly believe that you have ADD!!!! That is the longest sentence I have ever read  Anyway, I would have to agree with both of you...Hyperfocus is a positive side effect of a harnessed ADD mind.
At school as far as I can remember we weren't taught punctuation well we probably were but I was probably looking out of the window or something I have been known to write a whole side of A4 paper without one punctuation mark. I saw a dyslexia teacher for a few weeks a couple of years ago I can now use full stops and somtines commas but it get tireing so tend to only do it in official things.:D
