Hello fellow travelers:
How long does it take for Strattera to take effect? I was on 25 mg for 1 week , 50 mg for 3 days and I will ramp up to 80 mg tonight. I was depressed off and on in the 1st week or so. I do not have a depression problem normally. The doc asked me to wait at least 2 weeks to really make a determination - as to - if it will work for me or not. So far I haven't noticed anything except, a sort of, sedative effect. It can also cause insomnia. Hence, I had hardly any sleep last night. I am taking it at night per doc's recommendation because of the sedative effect. I know from reading the posts here that it has a subtle effect and in some cases hardly noticeable.

I will try it for the 2 weeks but I don't think it is doing anything. I read in some posts here that they felt the effects early on, after a few days.

Just wondering. Any thoughts?

Some people notice an effect right away. For most people , it takes several weeks for it to kick in and have a noticable effect.

you might also talk to the doc about doing a more gradual ramp-up. I started at just 20 and spent about 2 weeks at each increase (by 20 each time). So, about 2 months to reach full dose. The slower increases help with the side effects of early waking and drowsiness so you may just be ramping up too quickly for your body's preference..

My daughter just started Strattera a week and a half ago and seems more emotional - not suicidal, but cries at the littlest stuff, etc. Have any of you experienced this? Will it go away?
