I take concerta, 18mg a day. The only problem is I have a hard time waking up in the morning. Would it be possible to take 1 18mg in the a.m, then another one 12 hrs later to get 24hr coverage? I was thinking that with 24hr coverage, it might be easier for me to wake up in the morning, provided I sleep o.k at night.

Do you get adequate relief from 18 mgs? For the time it lasts I mean?
I do feel more focused, I also attend to tasks that need to be accomplished sooner. I would say it is helping with initiating and following thru on things.:) I'm not sure if I should try 27mg, then compare the two. I quess I am worried about side effects. Since being on concerta, It does seem like it has been harder to wake up in the mornings.
You might first make sure you are at you at optimal dose. This might include trying 27mg (you can always go back to 18mg) and see how long the coverage is. Are you having trouble getting to sleep?
Some people actually sleep better with meds in the system (calms the busy brain), so if your doctor was to OK you to try it at night, it might help. This would best be tried when you have no obligations the next day (in case you don't sleep).;)
Or some people take a very low dose of short acting med immediately on waking to get the med in the system quickly. There are probably other things you can discuss with the doctor to taylor the med to your needs.
Good luck.
