A frequent trait of ADD is creativity. I would assume this is because creation has a lot to do with impulse, and the brains of people w/o ADD inhibit some of those creative impulses. That's just a guess. BUT.... when I take my medication (Adderall now) I get SO creative sometimes.

I only take Adderall when I really need to get a lot done. Today I took it because it's finals time (I'm a college student).... only I'm not studying. I'm sketching. I have jotted down quite a few great ideas for art projects to work on in upcoming years (stained glass, batik, silk painting). I can't stop. This used to happen to me in high school when I was working on something while medicated (with Concerta), like painting a set.... I wouldn't be able to stop. I'd get SO MAD at people when they'd tell me to get off the stage, because rehearsal was about to begin. I also get a sudden urge to decorate my apartment sometimes.

I guess the downside is that I'm not studying..... but it feels so good to be getting SOMEthing done, instead of just wandering around the house, with tasks washing in and out of my head.

You would think that the medication would cause my creativity to wane, but for some reason, hyper-focus with me equals massive artistic production.

Does this happen to anyone else? Maybe the opposite?

You probably won't like my answer :o but when I feel like this, its a pretty good sign I have entered into a hypomanic episode.
