How long does it take to tell if Dexedrine is working? I can tell immediately with my son but I can't tell if it's doing anything for me other than acting like an appetite suppresent.
I'm also having major anxiety but I don't know if it's the meds or if it's just me. Is anxiety a side effect of dexedrine? If not what is the best thing to do about the anxiety? Any oppinions are welcome.

hey. I am on Dex currently. I switced over from Ritalin a while ago. I am on 3, 5-10mg dose per day.
Before, I started stimulants, I had some initial anxiety within. It seemed to depend on my self esteem for that day.. about how much anxiety I would have through out.
I have never had panic attacks, but always worried inside. "how do I look? Did I bring what I need, will I finish in time, will so and so be there, etc etc."
I also would have at least 10-20 adrenaline rushes a day just from my anxiety.
But, I was always in control of it, it was just a pain in the butt, and possibly noticable to those around me.
Anyways. Since stimulants I have noticed the opposite effect. I am very relaxed about things now. I was quite amazed one day, when, while in peak time of the meds, I had gone to the bathroom and not closed my stall door properly, only to notice that I was in view.
I was shocked later when I thought about it, how very calm I was about it. It didnt bother me in the least. I very smoothly just shut my door and forgot all about it. Before meds,. I would have the adrenaline pumping, the "OMG" humiliation etc etc.. but on stimulants... N O T H I N G!.
And its great, I finally have some peace. :)
Not exactly the best kind of response for your situation...
Is this your first medication? Have you had nervousness before taking it?
Also, the best way to control it? For me, was to look at my anxiety, and the fear it was creating right in it face, and IGNORE it. If you are stressing about a situation... just do it! Anytime you find your mind thinking about how stressful it is.. change your thoughts.
Another little trick I read about.. when your heart is beating fast and nervous.. breath some breaths over your thumb a couples times... its A) DISTRACTING and B) CALMING
Good luck~
