View Full Version : Whats your def of Chick? casper 12-14-06, 01:55 PM What do u think of when someone refers to a woman or girl as a chick? AndreaPurple 12-14-06, 03:07 PM I am not easily offended by stuff like that, unless I think they mean it to be derogatory. I have a male friend who always uses the word chick, and he doesn't think anything of it, it's not an insult or anything. He refers to his girlfriend as his chick, I think it's kind of funny. There is only one word I do not ever want to be called...it starts with a C, other than that I don't care, as long as, like I said, it's not meant in a derogatory way. xstarchildx 12-14-06, 04:31 PM My definition of chick, is a small baby chicken also very cute! and i do not like being referred to a chicken lol swivelhead 12-14-06, 05:50 PM i refer to myself as a chick. ha, few months ago this old man (i'm talkin' around 75-80) called me "toots"... i about fell over. Too funny. you'd really have to make quite an effort to offend me. Aizlyne 12-14-06, 07:46 PM I don't really mind. there's only really one female term that offends me and it's an older one "Brawd" (Sp?) Some how it just sounds insulting. When I hear it I think of a Cow. casper 12-15-06, 01:26 PM Ok, so I am not the only one who thinks this person is getting a bit to serious about it. I refered to someone else as a chick. Most def not in a derogatory sense, but it was taken as such. I have no prob being called a chick, in fact I would prob welcome it cause I take it to be a positive name. AndreaPurple 12-15-06, 01:40 PM Someone actually got upset about being called a chick? Imagine if you'd called her a broad! LOL She needs to just relax, sounds a little bit too serious to me. I agree about it being a positive name, it's just fun, there are so many worse things you could be called. Ok, so I am not the only one who thinks this person is getting a bit to serious about it. HighFunctioning 12-15-06, 08:59 PM I refer to myself as being a chick too... :-) Not really. Though from a male perspective, it seems that the use of the word chick is like treating a woman as a "tool" of some sort... which is what I think a lot of typical males think of females a lot of the time. rickhz 12-16-06, 03:13 PM Chick's are cool. Women are boring ;) My wife is still my chick:D nzkiwi 12-16-06, 03:19 PM My girlfriend would kill me, if i refered to her as a chick.:( I would just tell her to lighten up. he he he :) I guess it could be rude. nzkiwi 12-16-06, 03:21 PM what about "babe"? Crazy~Feet 12-16-06, 03:54 PM what about "babe"?Ugh! Now that one bugs me. Some people here in this part of the USA have a bad habit of referring to people as "baby" :eyebrow: which bugs the living CRAP out of me. I was raised in an area where nobody would ever dream of calling anyone other than a lover or a child "baby", unless they were hitting on someone, to which the proper response would have been "I am not your f-ing baby!" (I actually had phrase as a helmet sticker when I was still riding) :D. It REALLY bugs me when a waitress or someone like that refers to only my BDH as "baby" or "babe"...um, hello, is he YOUR baby? How rude! Chick does not really faze me, though. If anybody actually called me a chick at my age, I might even be flattered! There are more derogatory male-towards-female phrases IMHO. I find things like being called "little lady" :eyebrow: more insulting. Shoot, I am not that little and I am no "lady"...I have too many rough edges to fit the description "lady". I am just female, ya know? swivelhead 12-16-06, 03:57 PM i forgot all about "broad"... yeah, that one would tick me off. nzkiwi 12-16-06, 04:04 PM "broad" sounds terrible. I agree, their are more derogatory references to females than males. Another of many double standards. msam76 12-16-06, 04:55 PM I think of a woman in leather pants, tattooed arms, cigarette hanging out the mouth, wild blonde hair sticking out everywhere, with a beer in her hands....wait, I think I just described myself... |
