hi im a mid age woman, when i take adderallxr at 9am, by 11am i feel tirerd and kind of sweaty, is this normal?then by 3 in the afternoon, i get really nervous.if i take another dose im ok.when i took the ritalin, it effected me opposite,it seemed to wake my mind up all day, and i was a little nervous all day as well, but when it wore off, i would just get really tirerd.can anyone tell me which one of these meds seem to be doing the right thing, im so lost i dont know what to do, im so tirerd of being a guinea pig.is there another adult out there taking these ind of meds so you can tell me, how do you know a med is working, is an add med supposed to make you tirerd or wake you up but make you nervous, please?

How long did you try the Ritalin for? It sounds, to me, like it was working. I am curious as to why you switched from an instant-release methylphenidate to a long-acting amphetamine class medication...:)

crazy-feet, thanks for responding to my questions.the ritalin wasnt imediate release,that was gonna be the next step if adderall xr doesnt work. it was the ritalin la, only one a day did not last but 5 or 6 hours.do you think it sounds like maybe i should ask to try the immediate release ritalin?

It did sound to me like the methylphenidate class was working better than the Adderall. I would think that for a longer period of clarity your doctor might have tried you on Concerta next instead of switching medications classes.

Concerta is another form of methylphenidate but has a unique release mechanism so that it lasts quite a long time, a good bit better than 5 hours, although usually not the 12 hours they claim it lasts ;) My child takes Concerta with excellent results.

I get the same way. I take my 20mgx2 often times both in the morning but I've been spreading them out these past few weeks. I notice if I take one in the AM and then when it gets around 12-1PM, I notice I feel agitable, and just kinda strange, sorta like I am going through withdrawal. I take my second dose and about half an hour into my dose, I start to feel better as in no more agitation, I can sail smoothly through the rest of the work day.
