(I tried to find a pre-existing topic about this and couldn't, so forgive me if this is a repeat.)
How much does weight loss affect the impact Adderall has? I've lost more than a quarter of my total body weight in the past year, and I've recently been a little speedy and had trouble sleeping. (I had finals the last 2 weeks so feeling speedy, stressing, and not sleeping was totally normal behavior. Now that school's out and I've had a few days off, I shouldn't still feel that way.)
Is it possible that my dose is now too high since I weigh a lot less, or is that pretty unlikely? I've been having trouble remembering to eat lately, too, so that could be making me feel it more.
I'd ask my shrink but he's away for a few weeks. I think I'm going to halve my dose for a while (since I don't have any studying to do, thank god) and see if I feel better. Has this happened to any of you guys?
Thanks!

I went from 180 lbs to roughly 135-140 lbs on dexedrine and well I can say halving and lowering the dose to augment the weight loss side effects have in turn caused a decline in it's therapeutic effects which then makes me have to go back up and get the weight loss even more and not allow my body to adjust to the dose. I take dexedrine which is similar to adderall but worse as far as tolerance to that side effect. I take omega 3's and pound down enough ensure to try to stop the loss but I am a guy and i'm 5'8" tall so if it doesn't cease or slow a bit I may need to do weekends off again because when i was a kid that was what seemed to help. Short acting dosage will create a crash effect and make you want to gorge as well so that may help.
wow thats weird i think it makes me hungry. but food doesnt taste as good :(

Well Im a guy and 5'9"
I went from 125 lbs to around 117 lbs. since starting Adderall in April. I only take 20mg/3 times a week....
And I DO eat, plenty. Ive always had a very fast metabolism, and Adderall has no effect on how hungry I am...so its just the addition of the medicine in my system that caused the weight loss. (factors besides appetite supression, in other words...)

My doctor told me if I lose another pound he was swtitching my medicine from Adderall to try something else. He weighs at every appt. Luckily, he just left his private practice to work in a hospital and I was transfered to a different doctor who never weighs me.

My doctor never weighs me...but when I got perscibed it, he did ask how much I weighed. I told him i was 5lbs higher than I really was just in case he would be hesitant to let me try the medication. lol
Nevertheless, its never been discussed further.

If your lossing weight that fast you must be on a pretty high dose. I find that the weight loss effects level off eventualy. I had quite the spare tire before I started it (5'11, 180) and I'm now arround 165 so it's not drastic BUT it took a while... like over a year. And we are also talking only about 20-25mg a day. Those of you taking 40mg or more per day may be dropping pounds. Weight it not the most important thing to me but being heathly is. Fish oil and whatnot is really good for everyone but your not likely to take enought to make differance from a fat perspective. I think it's easier to eat small amounts of food thorughout the day more often than full meals. It's very important to eat when your on these meds. I can tell a differance. For those who LIKE the weight loss remember that you can shut your metabolism down by not eating enough. Meals shakes and meal bars are good. Dark Chocolate also seems more appetizing than most foods it seems and also has lots of good antioxydants and phycoactive chemicals (in small amounts) that seem to work well with the meds. Please don't forget to eat people!!! Your brain literaly NEEDS glucose to work right.
