Total shock. been almost 2 months now. adderall actually chills me out. i really truly did NOT expect this. especially when i had the prescription filled and the label they gave me said "amphetamine". that scared me! and when my husband saw it in the cabinet he said "THAT IS ILLEGAL!"
Tried Ritalin which helped some "depressive" type symptoms but seemed to make me grouchy after a few months. Adderall however, my only complaints are: SEVERE dry mouth (drinking tons of water and peeing a lot), and once in a while I feel a little "wiped out", like I've just gone running, but I think that is actually a positive effect as I enjoy running. Well whatever, I'm still getting over my shock that I might actually be helped by a pill.

Chills me out, eliminates my anxiety, helps me focus, and really helps me enjoy life more.
I understand your incredulity. Before Adderall I tried Wellbutrin & Celexa but did not like them at all.
Throughout my life I've experienced disappointment after disappointment. I find something that helps, some supplement or program, get all excited, only to be disappointed once the newness wore off and the effects.
After four months of Adderall, the consistency and daily help are remarkable.
I love to read fellow success stories.

Glad to hear Adderall is helping -- when ADD medication works -- it is pretty amazing the difference!:)

LOL I am still astounded by the high quality sleep Ive been getting since my dosage was increased!
and yes, the difference is amazing when you find that right dosage...It's so nice to read about positive experiences

Adderall has the same effect on me. Hallelujah!
The dry mouth comes and goes, and my goodness, can it be bad. I've gotten myself into situations where I'm unable to talk at all because my lips and tongue are stuck to my teeth. I try and always have sugarless mints in my pocket.
what about drowsiness? is this a good thing? my dr. said that's a good sign and i might need increase in dosage but dad (pharmacist) said maybe decrease it.

Depends... If the dose is real high you may want to move it down. For me 15mg sr is alot, for some it's very little. Tiredness can be a sign of overstimulation.... or not enough sleep. Be SURE you get enough quality sleep per night. Most people get less than they think. Adderall is NOT a substitute for sleep.
If your on generic stay away from barr. It doesn't seem to perk me up like brand or eon labs did. Mallinckrodt is highly recomended; indeed some people like it BETTER than brand! I have not yet tried it.
Remember sometimes less is more.... but don't rule out a dose increse.... just don't let your doctor do anything your uncomfortable with.... remember they work for YOU, not the other way around. Doctors don't know everything... if you find one who thinks they do then get a new one. I often think that doctors should diagnose and phamacists should do the scripting. In my experience they tend to be much more current with drug information than doctors.
