I have a question that I have not yet talked to my Dr about. I am currently prescribed 108mg of Concerta a day. I take it fairly early in the am every day. I started out like everyone else for the most part, 18 to 36 pretty quick. 36 did nothing for me at all, after a few weeks I was moved up to the point I am at over a good period of time. The 108 was exactly what I needed to get the full effect and clarity that I sought. The only thing that was difficult was latter in the day. Mostly on days that I was teaching after work. I found that I was tired and sleepy. So I was given a ritilan script to help for those times as needed. So I would use it only when I needed it. So now its 4 months later under that condition. Since being put on the medication I have lost 26 lbs in total. I have leveled off and not really lost much beyond that, but I have noticed with the weight loss that I have not needed to use the Ritilan script at all because I am now maintaining a bit better, even to the point where if I don’t eat well, I get gittery in the afternoon. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>

I am wondering if the weight loss and the physical changes in my body, mean that I may require less of the medication based on my mass ( what an awful description of my body J ) I am planning on talking this out with the dr, but wanted some opinions from those who might want to weight in. (no pun intended) Happy Holiday.<o:p></o:p>

If the loss of weight is a good percentage of your total body weight, say you weighed 200 pounds and lost 26 pounds, that is 13% of your body weight. This is huge pharmacologically. Even though it may be mostly fat (sorry) that was lost, fat is still active in the body when metabolizing drugs.

So in short, this may mean that you need less meds to achieve the same result.

I was 200lbs for a very long time. I pushed up to 218lbs and that was my weight around when I started. I hover around 192 to 194lbs right now. my metabolism is definately faster and my appetite is much lower. I want to lose more weight, and plan on taking up running again. I just got my new shoes for Christmas, so I will be starting this soon. I will be speaking to my Dr very soon also.
