My son is 7 and start strattera on 12/11. We immediately noticed he eating more (always had a hard time getting him to eat now he cleans his plate) and that he seems more hyper.
He started on 10mg and now is at 18mg. The teacher said at a conference meeting that Derek is out of his seat more than ever and seems disorented and has a harder time following directions.
I was just wondering if anyone had the same problem and if things went better after a couple of weeks of adjusting to the medication.

I'm 46.
I found I was knocked out during the day and had a hard time feeling like i was about to fall asleep sitting up! but , i could not sleep at night.
Anything I started doing, i kept doing.
I could not plan to pick my nose... planning was impossible while i was on Strattera.
good luck with this wonder drug. My question was, I wonder what they were thinking!
(There are some on here who are taking Strattera and report "it helps" them. I'm still trying to find objective vs. subjective data.)
I currently take some level of Adderall, so I'm not a universal anti drug nut. However, you may wish to see what Sam Goldstein and Thom Hartmann have in common (which isn't much) about drug use and kids.
The short of it is that for kids in school, drug use (generall) makes the kids more tollerable for the adults and other kids, but does NOT improve grades or long term outcomes. they are still trying to figure out why.
Sam Goldstein provided, for limited release, a chapter out of his new book, to me. I would recommend the book to you if you are interested in the broader issue of what does and does not improve with drug use in children.
"Thus, living in an intact household, above the poverty level, with parents free of serious psychiatric problems, consistent in their parenting style and available to their children appear to be among the most powerful variables at predicting good outcome (for review see Goldstein and Goldstein, 1998). "
Notice, drugs and therapy are not listed.

We are planning on giving it the 3 weeks to see if things get more under control. Today my son threw up (16hours after last dose) and has had a headache most of the day. He takes his at night with supper and last night he didn't eat alot when he took it.
