Thanks... netsavy006 12-26-06, 02:47 PM Oh, To The Moderators/Admins: There seems to be one line extra at the top and the bottom of my marquee sig. If someone can correct this mistake so that the extra lines at the top and bottom are removed that would be very helpful. Thanks... EYEFORGOT 12-26-06, 08:36 PM This is what forum guidelines have to say about signatures: Signatures/ Web Links: *Due to complaints about signature length and content, we have chosen to adopt the following guidelines for signatures. A Moderator will review any material that generates a complaint. *All signatures must fit within a 468x113 pixel-sized box http://bigsplace.com/Signature_block.gif *No flashing or annoying animation (annoying will be determined by the number of complaints your sig gets) *No porn or foul language *No offensive content (offensive is defined as anything that generates a complaint and can range from porn to preaching) *No links to warez or illegal materials *No links to any site for "points". No blind links to generate income. *No links to other groups, forums or communities in signatures or posts, without the explicit written permission of a Site Admin. *No links to viruses, fake viruses, or anything which could be of a violent nature to anyone’s PC *Signatures and websites linked in signatures and posts must be family friendly and must must not be blatent attempts to sell products or services. The Website linked in your signature must include a reciprocal link back to www.addforums.com (http://www.addforums.com/). ** Links to personal blogs do not require a reciprocating link on the personal blog site. Links to all other blogs, including those connected to groups, forums or communities, are required to have a reciprocating link on the first page of the blog site. ** *User violating the signature guidelines may have their signature privledges removed. I know this doesn't directly answer your question, but for the moment, it's the only one I have. Someone will get back to you in more detail. Nova 12-27-06, 03:16 PM I don't know if everyone knows this- but if you hit the 'Esc' key, it will stop all current animation processes. (.gif files, etc.) I have to personally do this, but I'm not complaining. (0: By hitting the 'Esc' key, I, personally can *function* on here, and other members can still enjoy their .gif files or other animations. Crazy~Feet 12-27-06, 03:20 PM Thanks soooo much for that tip Nova! I hate to say it Net but I find your new siggy extremely distracting :o and I will have to use this little tip from now on. Crazy~Feet 12-27-06, 03:22 PM Thanks soooo much for that tip Nova! I hate to say it Net but I find your new siggy extremely distracting :o and I will have to use this little tip from now on. I tried it and it did not stop the scrolling :faint: anybody have any other tips for me? Nova 12-27-06, 03:23 PM Actually Meadd823 was the one, who originally told me about that. So the thanks goes to her ! netsavy006 12-28-06, 09:51 AM Ok. I got rid of the maquee sig seemings how it was destracting. Is it w/in the size limits? netsavy006 12-28-06, 09:53 AM Actually It does. HighFunctioning 12-28-06, 10:37 AM The maximum signature size can be found here: http://www.addforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=15842 {* I can't post it here because the forum doesn't allow me to post images here. *} netsavy006 12-31-06, 01:50 PM Thank you all for all your help. Now I belive I got my sig as in guidelines. In the future, let me if I don't and I will fix it right away meadd823 01-04-07, 01:21 AM There seems to be one line extra at the top and the bottom of my marquee sig. If someone can correct this mistake so that the extra lines at the top and bottom are removed that would be very helpful. The extra line at the top of signatures is on every one's post that has a signature, it is like a dividing line between the post body and the members signature. The line helps people reading your replies to know where your response ends and your signature begins. With image signatures like mine and Highfunctionings it may not seem necessary however some people have poems and other text only signatures like Crazy~Feet and Nova.Other have found a creative way to work with the line like Eyeforgot and her bibbitty bobbity boo. but frankly. . . . . . . . . Without the line these text signatures would blend into the body of the response and possibly cause confusion for some of us who “perceive” the written word differently. This line helps me a lot because I know what is below the line is a members signature and not part of the response. . . . the line is generated by the system when a signature is created. I had to Google marquee sig because I was basically clueless. . . scrolling text that can not be stopped by using the escape key would prove to be a distraction to many members, including me. If I can not get movement to stop by using the escape key or other wise block it from view by scrolling I will often skip over that person's post because being dyslexic it is hard enough to read. For me words tend to have there own way of moving about a page, the lines are hard to follow therefore moving stuff in the avatar and signature makes reading impossible to me. Several members have dyslexia and others who do not have dyslexia find moving things very distracting. . . . . after all most here are ADD thus distracted by any thing and every thing. . . . . Moving graphic should be used sparingly and tastefully , there are several example’s here on the board Speedo, Crazy’s kids and Andi all have movements in their avatars that isn’t overt and all can be stopped by hitting “Esc”. I would avoid moving avatars and signatures because no one here will have a clue what you wrote in that middle part called a response. . . . . Another perspective. . . . I do think I hit the question about the line. Hope it helps! netsavy006 01-24-07, 09:49 PM Thank you everyone for your help on this issue. netsavy006 01-25-07, 08:08 AM I liked the Marquee but I do think the sig is better in 'still life'. The extra line I was refering to was like someone hit the enter key before and after the sig thus adding spacing between the lines you mentioned Meadd283. On the editation for the sig those spacings weren't present but when I saw the sig after my post when it was the maquee (scrolling text) those extra line spacings were present. I was asking at the time how to get rid of those since the edit showed no sign of an entering in between. I hope this all makes since... netsavy006 01-25-07, 08:10 AM Also since I'm seeing it at this moment as an example of the spacing I'm talking about. Imagine my Dx line as the line before the sig and the Rx line as the actuall text in my sig. See how there's an extra space in there (in this sig I mean to have a space), but this extra space was in between the line and the marquee sig when I had it. EYEFORGOT 01-25-07, 09:54 AM I think it does this automatically. I've fiddled about with mine and can't remember if I ever got it squeezed together. I gather you've tried different placements of the words to get the results you wanted? I tell you what, I'll fiddle with mine and see if I can achieve the result you're looking for then tell you how I did it. ok? netsavy006 01-25-07, 09:15 PM Ok. that's fine. I like my current sig so If you don't want to, that's fine as well... netsavy006 01-26-07, 04:56 PM Where's your "how do I?" post? EYEFORGOT 01-26-07, 09:21 PM http://www.addforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=34161 A sticky at the top of this section. netsavy006 01-27-07, 01:29 PM Thanks. I couldn't find it in the sticky that's why I asked about it. I may have missed it. |
