The first time I saw this quote was in 1971. I was graduating the 8th grade from St. Lukes School in Ho Ho Kus, NJ. My eight grade teacher (a nun) gave each student in the class a present. Mine was a plaque with this quote on it. The paque did not attribute the quote to anyone. It wasn't till recently when asked too many times where it came from that I did the research and discovered the author.

The plaque is on my desk, always right in front of me. As long as I can remember it has been my signature. I'll never need another one.

Is what my DH yelled at me all the time when we worked together everyday. I would get so upset because I was busting my a-s-s 24/7 to keep things together. I thought DH was just being mean to me.

I already posted about the first part of my sig, but I added a new part. It's basically saying that you should learn to know what you what and why you want it in your life so that no one can tell you to change or make you feel inferior.

Mine states very simply, "That's me, Odd~Scrooball." It means

It derived from a really hard 2006. My group at work had a really hard year..and the beginning of 2007 we saw a drastic turn around for the better...I nicknamed my group the Phoenix group.

What this signature actually means:

The quote is from a time long after the character of Gaara appears in the anime Naruto, from the post-time-skip series Shippuuden (Hurricane Chronicles)...in Naruto, we see a Gaara who has lived 12 years of his life being misunderstood, tormented and despised for reasons beyond his control. He has been unable to so much as fall asleep for 6 years, and knows no love or caring from anyone; in fact he cannot even grasp those concepts. He decides that "I love only myself, and fight only for myself" and carves the kanji meaning "Love" into his own forehead to signify this.

He is on his way home from Konoha when he is attacked by Uchiha Sasuke, whom he rapidly defeats, and takes Hanaro Sakura hostage. Enter Uzumaki Naruto, to defend his friends. These two would have been an even match, except that Naruto is fighting to defend his friends...and Gaara is fighting out of sheer pleasure in the battle. Both of them exhaust themselves (call that a draw) and though Gaara is unable to move, Naruto continues to try to help his two friends, even though he can do little but crawl. Through fighting with Naruto, Gaara comes to realize that even he can come to care for others if he will only allow himself to be vulnerable once again.

The pic is from Shippuuden, when Gaara is 15 and has gained a high position in his village, much respected by all. The quote is something he says to his older brother, Kankuro, referring to his fight with Naruto.

Whew! Longwinded explanation...but that's what it means. :)

Mine is from a character in Robert Jordan's "Wheel of Time" series of novels.The world that it is set in has people who can "channel" a force known as "the Source" in various different ways, a bit like magic I guess. Each "channeller" is strongest in a particular area eg healing, weather control, which varies according to the person. In the Age of Legends, some channellers turned to the Shadow ("evil") and the 13 most powerful of those were known as the "Forsaken". Asmodean was the one who joined the Shadow for the most unexpected reason, simply to live long enough for his artistic talents to be given their true value.

When I turned to the Goth subculture (loooong story there...) it was the direction that nobody expected at all from me, so I chose Asmodean as my Goth name, and then when I found the forum I tried to use that but someone else had already done that! But also I have felt in the past that I have been totally alone in the world and forsaken (I don't feel that way now:) :) !) , so I think in a way it reminds me of how far I have come since the darkest days in my life.

The quote is a Chinese proverb that reminds me that if I ask a question & feel dumb, it will pass quickly, but if I don't ask it then I will remain dumb forever. Really it is about me actually accepting help instead of doing it "my way or no way" in my pre-medicated life!

Well good for you, I have a sense of humor and my diagnosis signature was something that I felt ashamed of (because it is so long) so I chose to add a bit of humor and the things I saw that made me laugh hysterically, are what I chose for a signature so other people could laugh as well. It changes frequently because of my flavor of ADHD.

In the far off land of Japan, there are two forms of entertainment that we don't have here in the States:

Manga (print)

And

Anime (motion pictures)

A man named Kishimoto Masashi writes a manga called Naruto. They have made Naruto into a long-running and very popular anime. The characters in my signatures come from Naruto, the anime.

They represent what is known as my "bishie list". Bishie is a cutesy term for Bishonen, which means "beautiful boy" when literally translated. The loose translation is "the object of a fangirl's obsessions" :o.

My bishies in order of first to last are called:

Sabaku no Gaara (Gaara of the Sand)
Sabaku no Kankurou (Kankurou of the Sand)
Hyuuga Neji
Uzumaki Naruto

And this leads me to the very odd fact that I have a thing for anime dudes with no pupils or unusual eye areas in general:

Ok I can't believe I never came in here and updated mine since March?
I had CF create mine...when life was beating the crap out of me, BP dx with me and the kid...kid in psych unit, yada yada...and when I wondered in the big scheme of it all WHY THE HELL am I still here....I woke up....looked at my boys sleeping and realized....that is why.

One of my favorite quotes, also in one of my all time favorite movies (The Crow) is right below it. For all the mothers who forget....who we are to our children, especially when they are young....

The last quote, why I finally opened my mouth, admitted my life sucked and got my BPII dx. It was more painful to stay in the known, than not.
