I'm going to start off by providing you guys with my past medication history as well as some recent personal history.

First off, I’m 21 and live in LA. I work an extremely demanding and stressful IT job.

I was diagnosed with ADD (inattentive type) about 3 years ago. My doctor at that time put me on Concerta, which seemed to work OK at best at the time. Later I tried Straterra just a few times with the concerta mix...but I do not recall if that really worked at all. (Wasn't in school at the time) I stopped taking Concerta because I didnt exactly NEED it to focus on anything at the time. In Jan. of this year I moved to LA and started this job. I decided pretty quickly that it was time to hop back on my medication to meet my needs at work.

I found a great new doctor up in my area and was prescribed Adderall XR. I was on the Adderall for a while and it was working great. There were side effects, but i chose to ignore them. As time went on, with more stress and responsibilities at work I felt as though more and more symptoms began to creep out of the woodwork. I began to have the common anxiety issues. I was put buspar and klonopin to help control this (which it did pretty well) but I began to feel like a walking cocktail, and never really felt like myself.

Drug breakdown:

Adderall XR: Awful Dry mouth and bad breath, lost my appetite dramatically, began losing weight (I'm a skinny guy to begin with), jittery, had problems talking sometimes, putting sentences together often became hard as my mind was faster than my mouth. Headaches at night. Felt mentally drained when meds wore off. Moody and very short temper.

Adderall 10mg: (prescribed to fight the come down and give the kick for the final hours of work) Same as above but all around smoother.

Buspar: Crazy Electric shock feeling in entire body. (Found out recently that was caused from Fresca.) Grapefruit is apparently bad news with buspar. Felt numb emotionally.

Klonopin: Used only for anxiety attacks. Worked quickly and great. Still take it sometimes to chill my nerves.

I went on with this mix until September when my father unexpectedly passed away. At this point I felt like it was crucial to feel whatever motions my body naturally needed to feel. I do not regret this decision.

After returning back to work, I’ve taken adderall 10mg off and on a bit to give me the kick on certain days where I felt I needed it. From an ADD perspective being on Adderall is like night and day. It helps me tremendously where Focus and attentiveness is concerned.

My main problem began to be the appetite suppression and mental exhaustion after a day on pills. I quit taking adderall 10mg again. I went back to my doctor after a short break because I felt it was time to get some help for my ADD again and hopefully find another similar alternative. Another issue I brought to the table was ED and general sexual complications. I was adamant about finding only drugs that would not cause me problems in this area considering I have a new girlfriend and the stress in my life is enough to complicate things in this area already.

We discussed and went over all of the above, and I was presented with a few choices.

1. Straterra or other non-stimulant medications. (which I’ve already tried somewhat in the past)

2. Begin the adderall again at a lower dose and find what works at the lowest dosage. If the eating and weight loss becomes an issue Remeron would be a possible drug to help me eat while on the medication.

The second option was interesting to me. I was explained how Remeron was an Anti-depressant often prescribed to people with AIDS and Cancer patients undergoing Chemotherapy. I believe he stated that one of the sexual side-effects of Remeron was possibly a delayed ejaculation similar to prozac, but he might have been speaking about the Straterra.

What do you guys think about the Remeron / Adderall Mix? I don’t feel like I’m an incredibly depressed person taking into account my fathers death and all, but I’m not exactly the happiest man alive either.

At any rate, I’m here and welcome to your opinions. I’ve been a long time reader of these boards and would appreciate everyones input!

Thanks!

I experienced headaches on Adderall so I was switched to Ritalin. It's worked really well for me... Is that something you've considered??
