I am no longer making New Year's resolutions because I can never follow through with them anyway..................but I am really hoping that I will find a way to be more organized and to quit loosing(or forgetting about) important papers

I don't know about brand new 'resolutions' for the New Year, Minn..
The one I 'made', is one I've been makin' for a while now.

I don't get 'man-made' time, anyways.
I've already said that, before on here- so I won't bore you with the details.

After the New Year *happens*, it'll still *feel* like *now* to me, anyways.
'Cept I'll have new 'calendars' on my walls.
Only difference.

But you know-there will always be some people will always try, (bless their heart) and 'splain, to me, again, how *time* is supposed to 'be'. (0;
How boring would this planet be, if all humans perceived, *all* in exactly the same way ?

Who cares about New Years resolutions..really ?
If you need to do something- you'll do it.

As far as 'containers' for important papers- I use a few types.

The expanding file folders work great.
You can buy 'tabs' for them, that are alphabetized, if you need more than one.

For bills-

I use a 'slotted' bill holder. (it kinda looks like a horizontal CD case holder)
I have that on my desk.
I put the bills in it, as soon as I get them- wiht the bill that's due 'first'- up front (in the first slot), and the rest following, according to their due date.

I'm not sure if this helps..

My advice would be focus on working on a very small part of the problem instead of trying to overhaul your whole system of dealing with the papers. For instance, about losing papers (and believe me I can relate!) then maybe you could come up with a
"home" for the papers and just focus on always getting your important papers there.

My solution is I have a magazine rack on the wall right inside my front door and everything important paper wise goes in there. To me just knowing where things are is the first step to dealing with them.

Happy New Year Minn:)

I don't like new years resolutions either. I think they set us up for dissapointment.
Just do the best you can everyday, a little bit or a lot each day depending on how much time you have or how you are feeling. Break it up and work on it in little chunks of time. I am in the process of trying to keep clutter to a minimum. It's not out of control but it bothers me and I feel it's a reflection of what's going on inside. So I'll attack it one step (or pile) at a time. It's never ending even for organized people and the clutter will still be there long after I am gone so does it really matter? Not really when you think of the big picture what's really important in life.
Best to you:)

Thank you for the great ideas. I always appreciate something new to try to make my life easier.

When I posted this originally I honestly was in complete tears because I had messed up BIG time(well so I thought at the time). I had opened up some mail that day and found out that our insurance had been terminated due to non payment. I freaked out because I do not ever remember getting any statement to pay the bill. Well, guess what...........I had gotten one and 1 reminder letter. I just filed those envelopes away thinking that they were just the monthly statements that we get from the insurance company about medical claims being sent in. As it turns out, I called the insurance company and they were their normal friendly selves(inert sarcascim) and told me to fax something asking to be re-instated. So I did that. But since it is the beginning of the year, we have to pay everything out of pocket(and the big bill to get it re instated of course), so I did not mess up as bad as I thought.

BUT I did learn a lesson. I will open up every piece of mail(yep including that wonderful junk mail) because some things might not seem like they could be something else. I am going to find something that is not to big and can hung in a place that I will for sure see it.

I really must seem like a complete idiot to some people reading this. But oh well............that is me :)

Thanks again for the suggestions.
