Recently diagnosed 35 yr old male(1 month ago)

Always felt something wasn't exactly right growing up and in college(never finished)....inability to concentrate...super hyper as a kid...as a child, wet the bed until 10...when family traveled..I would sit in the backseat and bang my head against the seat for hours...so on..so forth.

I have been prescribed 18mg Concerta(taking 1 per day for 3 1/2 weeks) which seems to help some but by 1400, I'm yawning and tired...is this normal?

I have noticed some changes:

Burning urination
Less patience
Quick to anger
Out of breath more often

Please help with the following:

Is Concerta right for me? Should I try something else?
Are these side effects normal?

I'm very uneducated about ADD drugs and dosages.

Thanks for your help.

Your side effects definitely do not sound normal to me! My child and I have both taken/are taking Concerta. Have you contacted your doctor yet?? This seems a worrisome set of effects, in my opinion.

Common practice is to titrate up (more on that HERE (http://www.addforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=34796) ). It does not sound to me like this is the correct medication for you, or else there may be an underlying condition that is aggravated by stimulant medications.

Of course we cannot give medical advice and are not doctors ;). This is just my own experiences and gathered knowledge I am sharing here.

Welcome to ADDF!

What Crazy~Feet said.

Here is a site that may be of assistance. Please do not substsute this as medical advice. You got to scroll down a bit before you will see the information

Drugs.com (http://www.drugs.com/cdi/concerta_extended_release_tablets.html)

The out of breath thing really is some thing that need to be brought to your doctor's attention.
