I don't want my post to dissappear so quickly (as I see it is being bumped down the list pretty quick)
How do I know what category I should post it in to get the most responses? I posted my last thread in General Discussion but I am wondering if I should have chosen something else.

Do the best you can. It would go in the section that most reflects the title or main subject. I would encourage you to scroll down the main page and look at the possibilities. When you don't know put it in General ADD and it will get moved to the specific sub forum if needed.
i.e. If you are dealing with a specific medicine then we have a forum for General Medication and specific meds.
There should be a redirect from where you originally put it to where it is now.
The point of moving it is so that it can be somewhere where it will get the most views from people who can answer your question best. If we lumped it all together no one would be able to find a subject they really needed answering on.
When all else fails, ask a Moderator.

What Eyeforgot said. . . .
We like variety in General ADD, If it needs to be move we don't mind doing that.
If a thread has to be moved I will send the person beginning it a private message letting them know where it has been moved along with a hyperlink directly to it's new location. Plus as Eye said it will have a re-direct left in the original section.
If a thread is posted in General and it is one of those topics that could also go into another area I will normally leave it in General to see if it generates responses. If it does generate responses I leave it alone however if it fails to generate interest after a day or so I will try moving it to the second location. Some times this works other times it does not. Some topics can possibly go into other area on the forums however not all topics fit into the criteria of other sections.
Some topics generate more involvement than others for reasons not fully understood by me any way. Forum voodoo??? Audience mood??? People’s ability to relate to the topic???? The location of the moon??? Position of member at the time submit was hit???? I am not sure any one really knows why some threads generate more responses than others.
Hope this helps.
