Hi Tara,
this is in response to your call for a rollcall:
I am 57 years old, diagnosed ADD many years ago, but still not on any ADD specific medication because they always tell me that my depression and anxiety medications should take care of that - they do not. I have many of the typical symptoms for Attention Inconsistency but in conjunction with my other problems I cannot convince anyone to help me with that, too. The reason I call myself that ridiculous name is because I sometimes say things that can be mistaken for something bad or inappropriate, but I always mean it in a very innocent way.
I am unemployed - again - looking for a job and unable to get any response from any hiring company.

Hello there New Hampshirites!

My name is Maya and i'm a Transgender Vermont Born, New Hampshire raised UNH student who has been diagnosed with ADHD. i have had periods of my life when i was on Concerta and Adderall and i have had periods where i have been on nothing.

i'm 23 years old and although a bit late on the graduation thingy i plan on finally completing my undergraduate (with a degree in Anthropology and a minor in Art) this spring!

just to fill you in on my life, my friends refer to me as an RLF (radical lesbian feminist) but i don't think i'm that radical, i just think most people are too moderate! anyway I just joined up and i'm excited to participate in this online community of ADD/ADHD'ers! i'm fairly active in my local LGBT community and i'm always hoping to meet more like-minded people!

i have a lot to say and a lot more to learn so if you are in the Durham/UNH area and you want to get together and discuss pretty much anything over a cup of tea i'd be delighted! although i have to warn you i may challenge your world view a bit so open-minded individuals are prefered!

anyway I'm off to go learn more and post more!

-Maya ;)

Hey all,

I'm from Iowa, but been a New England yankee for over 10 years now and don't plan to go back to the cornfields.

I was researching adult ADHD/ADD and ran across this forum. After urgings from family members (it runs in our family) and friends with ADD, I am beginning to suspect that I too am one of the "special" ones. I've done a lot of reading, took some screenings, etc. and didn't realize that the symptoms I've been experiencing were really ADD...pretty funny as I've treated attention problems in people with brain injuries and was a vision therapist (treatment of vision disorders, whose symptoms can sometimes present very similar to ADD). I have a degree in psych, and don't present as depressed or bipolar or with anxiety disorder, either.I guess it's a case of being in too deep, and perhaps not seeing the obvious in myself.

Anyway, my next step is to find a good psychiatrist in the Keene, NH, Brattleboro, VT area who can assess and treat me. If anyone has any suggestions, I would GREATLY APPRECIATE IT, as I don't want to waste my time on someone inexperienced in such matters.

I'm excited to think that there may actually be some help for me. The symptoms are just so frustrating at times. I've been a proofreader over the last several years (watch out! a proofreader with ADD!), and I guess that I should be thankful for's really shown me how it can manifest itself in the work environment.

Anyway, thanks to all who have taken the time to read this post. If any of you have any ghosts out there, I'm a member of a paranormal investigative team that operates for free in the area. Check out the web site linked to my profile.

Thanks to all, and I look forward to participating in this community. It's been very helpful so far, and I just started.
