Ok, so I went on Strattera for a bit and realized that I just don't like the way I feel on it. (tense muscles, overall slowness)

I noticed something very strange while I was on my medication. Time seemed to pass much slower while I was medicated. Now that I'm off of it, time is back to normal tempo.

Has anybody else experienced this?

Also, if you are on Strattera, what side effects do you enjoy/not enjoy about it? What is your general thougts on the drug?

My thought is omg, i'm starting this medication in may!!!

I think that like all medications they come with side effects and they react to us all in a different way, maybe this medication doesn't suit you!

I just started Stattera this week and I find it makes me very sleepy. I hope that passes.
Also, if I take it on an empty stomach it makes me feel very nauseous.

I just started Strattera a few days ago and i've had the exact same feeling. The days seem to take forever and frankly I hate the way I feel on it. I'm very tired and have no energy/motivation. It's only been 3 days for me but I really don't want to take it again. I think i'm going to stop tomorrow.

jkron, what is your dosage? I just started Strattera three weeks ago and I have had barely any side affects. I am on my third week and I take it every morning at breakfast. I wonder if weight, size, age, gender are variables. Every week I up my dosage and wait for side effects but side effects I find last minutes and might be because of all that I have read (not to say anyone elses's aren't real).
My dosage may not be enough for my body type but I have seen improvements in focus and task completion and just sitting still. good luck!!

I'm glad to hear that it is working for you. I guess this just once again proves the point that not all meds are for everyone. I'm currently on 25mg once a day, i'm M and weigh about 155 and i'm 34yrs old. Not the biggest dose, but it really knocked me for a loop.

Am I one of the high ones? I'm on 60 mg/day..

It's hard for me to tell if Strattera is doing anything to be honest. But taking Stat and dex together seems to be keeping me on track.

Those of you who are just starting out, I hope you give the med at least a month before you ditch it. Almost everyone feels tired and weary for a few days after starting Strattera. It goes away! I am sensitive to meds that make you tired and one Benadryl for allergies will knock me out cold for four hours. But I've taken Strattera now for four months-- 100mg a day now and no side effects. On the second day I almost fell asleep at breakfast with my face in my plate! By two weeks I could take a 60mg pill in the morning and not even feel a thing.

Overall I can sit and concentrate on tasks much better. I am less tired and stressed at the end of the day. I used to hit overload with a racing mind by 4pm, but now I can work late and actually get something done. I remember people's names when they introduce themselves and keep track of things I have to do during the day much better.

The things it hasn't done: 1) Make it easier to form good habits-- still start with good intentions and fall off after a week or two. 2)Make me more "fired up" or motivated.

Hey! I went on Strattera for only 4 days...and I had to call my doctor. The muscle pain was so intense that I was litterally laying on the floor crying. If you don't like the way it makes you feel call your doctor. I couldn't function I hurt so bad... he switched me to focalin.

Thanks for the info, It's nice to know I wasn't the only person experiencing these effects!!

I can NEVER remember names! Even when it's important, and even just a few minutes after. Unless I make a really dedicated conscious effort, but even then I forget. It's like I don't even listen during introduction... just on auto pilot.

How are you feeling on Strattera? Would you mind sharing more info? When did you start feeling the benefits, and what benefits did you feel?

I was taking it in the morning and feeling drowsy, so yesterday I switched to taking it in the evening. I'm about 10-11 days into it and have moved from 18mg to 25, and I keep moving up for the rest of the month until I'm at 60mg.

So far I *think* I might be feeling some benefits, but I'm not sure. It's also probably a little skewed by the fact that I'm reducing my adderall dosage at the same time.

Anyway I would love to hear more about when you started to feel the effects and exactly how you recognized the change? Could you 'feel' it? Or did you just notice you were doing things differently?

I THOUGHT I sensed something other than Strattera in your blood from this post! Me its Dexedrine, my excuse for also writing in caps.

No seriously, its neat how you can tell what drugs people are on from thier posts -- and far and away Strattera proves to be the most sane of all ADHD medications judging by everyone's concise, linear and sane writing in the Strattera forum.

Hehe look at me, I'm on Ritalin --

Hey everyone! :D How are things? :eyebrow: Just wonderin! :p Have a great day everyone! :) :) :) :) :) :)

Like previous members said give it a good shot before giving up. Other adhd medications have their own set of issues.

Just curiously Jennifer what drugs if any have you liked instead?

I'm not entirely sure I like Strattera personally, I've liked Dexedrine to some extent, liked the first five minutes but hated the rest of Ritalin.
