I think I will try to get off this stuff. It has been a little over 6 months and I find the effects are wearing off. For the most part It was a great drug at first until my wife and I noticed that I started getting very aggravated all of a sudden. My impulses to do stupid a childish things came back also. The only thing I find strattera helps is stress, for me anyway.

I m very scared to get off of this stuff because I recently forgot my meds one Night when I had to go out of town and this was the worst day of my life. I felt very confused I actually forgot to get dressed in the morning. I was out the hotel door with my wallet and my keys in my hand, ready to leave until I noticed that I didnt brush my teeth and get dressed to go work. I know i have add but I know that the strattera did this to me.

Can someone just tell me how bad will I feel getting off of this stuff.

No major advice, but I've been on my current dose of Strattera (80mg) for about as long as you have, and I'm wondering if this stuff quits after a certain time, too...because I'm considering going off this medication, too.

I haven't cut cold turkey, but I've had moments where I didn't take my medication (I posted on another thread..forgot the name tho, sorry), and also experienced REALLY ugly days because off it.

I've also decreased my dosage from 100mg to 80mg maybe a couple months ago and I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary. Then again I was going through a really trying time in my life, so maybe I was too distracted by that to realize bad things were happening, because now my life is very peaceful and overall good and I'm not a happy camper. Will talk to the psychiatrist and psychologist about this, but I'm just finding that this drug isn't doing it for me anymore...hmmm...

With medications like strattera, it's imperative that you don't quit 'cold turkey'. You have to go off the drug using a method called tapering. this means that you gradually lower the dose until you are off of the mediction. For example if you were taking 40mg, you would go down to 30mg for 2 weeks, then 20mg for 2 weeks, then 10mg for 2 weeks, than take the 10mg every other day for 2 weeks, than every 3 days for two weeks, and then stop it. This may seem long but it is a safer way to get off of the medication. Best of luck...
